My little Iron Ranger {Part 2}

My brother started making an airbox to separate the cone from the hot engine. He was poking along struggling every step. I told him to use cardboard to make a template(he went straight for my sheet metal, burned up a piece on nothing.) So, I took over for a day, made it with cardboard, and bent up a useable airbox.

Not done yet, so no pics(no peaking! )

Oh, yeah. I fixed the exhaust dumps and sure am glad the ol' girl has her growl back.

I did another burnout leaving work today with the dumps open....................and.................um.........................lots of power was unlocked.

A 35 degree fishtail in 2nd gear before I let off to regain control:icon_surprised::icon_surprised:

She sounds like NASCAR!!! :D

It's times like this I wish I had a digital video camera...............

Well, it's not the highest quality video, but here's a little driving around with the open dumps. The sound didn't really come out like I wanted, but it'll do for now until I can aquire a video camera.

It's definitly one of those "with great power comes great responsibility" buttons.

You know what I mean:

now that explains the red glow iv been seeing from Da Range:headbang:

Well, I've been working on this air box and I think I've finally found a design that works. I just hate sheet metal! :annoyed: Put a 100btu's to it and it burns through............

Anyway, I got the etch primer layed down and took some pics(before the camera battery died.)

You can't see it, but the cover is also made too. Again, battery died.

I also bought a 70MM MAF housing to replace the very restrictive and turbulant 55MM stocker. The "new" one is from a 1994-1995 mustang, flange style.

BIG DIFFERENCE!! :icon_thumby:

Now, you might ask yourself "But how is he doing to connect the tubes together when the MAF housing is a flange style? It can't be done! It's not like he has access to aluminum scrap and a TIG welder or anything..............."

:D

My overall shot of it. I think the K&N sticker is in just the right spot! :icon_thumby:

About an inch of exposed scoop.

And it curved up and directs the air right into the box. As close to "ram" air as I'm gonna get.

Sorry son.............your lil' red grand am just ain't gonna cut it.......... :D

Anyway, next on my project is a rear anti-sway bar to help minimize body roll, and my brother and I are gonna pull the tranny to solve this leak problem once and for all.

I also want to install a steering stabilizer shock absorber, but I don't know how to go about doing it. Any tips from people who have done it?

I like the Spectre boots, nice touch!
