I found both front and rear swaybar bushing kits so as soon as they come in I'll get them installed.. I was able to get out and run the truck Saturday. She handles the curves a lot better than before.. Sunday I got her out to head to the grocery store. Heard a wierd noise about the time the engine idled down going into closed loop. Everything seemed fine. Came out of the store only to find green fluid running out from under her. The lower radiator hose popped.. It was over 12 years old so I can't complain too much about it.. I didn't replace either hose.. Did put new heater hoses on though... lucky for me I was only 1.5 miles from home and was able to get her home under her own power.

Not positive but I think the bolt/nut where the steering link bolts to the pitman arm is rubbing the lower rad hose???? I'll have to check it more closely this weekend...

So I got the BII urathane bushings in 1" flavor... Found out that the bar is actually a 3/4.. so back to the other salvage yard Saturday... I hope whoever said the 89-90 BII has 1" is right and it still has it on there..

Easy way to verify is take a 1" wrench and a wire brush with you. Clean the dirt off and see how the wrench fits.

I'm gonna take the 1" bushing with me... looks like they may have already crushed the 89.. They have an 88 though.. I am hoping they have the year wrong on the website...

Anyone have any idea on what years the BII had a 1" sway? Or was it available as an option on all years? Also does the explorer have a 1" I have access to several 1rst generations and tons of seconds...

I have a 94 Explorer, I'll go and measure it tomorrow morning, I will also measure the one on my 89 BII

I've never seen a 1" rear on a 1st gen Ex. I've own a '94 Limited, '93 EB, '91 XLTs, a parts XL.

My 1" bar came off a '90 2WD BII.

Ive heard mentions of the Explorer rear bar also being 1", but I dont know if its compatible with the ranger rear end..

As far as which BII's came with the 1", my guess is to stick to the 4x4 models. I believe any of them. Mine came off a 89-90 model.

The one I found was a 4x4 but it was an 86... it's bigger just not an inch.. I think my girlfriend was just being nice when she measured it for me...

I have 6 4x4 b-II's from '84 to '89 and a '91 exploder. None of them have any rear sway bar bigger than ~ 5/8". I wish I could find one.

Well after hitting up two JYs I have yet to find an inch swaybar.. The 89 BII at the one had already been crushed.. so the latest one I could find was an 88. I ordered new bushings in the 3/4 flavor.. I have a feeling the front isn't an inch either.. It's bigger than a 3/4 but smaller than an inch. The first gen explorer sway bar is different and none of those were an inch either... At this point I give up. The inch BII bar seems as rare as a Ranger with a SHO engine in it...

Well I got the front urathane bushings.. They were wrong in two ways.. The front is a 7/8 with a 3.5 inch tall bushing. I ordered a 1"X2.5".. I have learned more about swaybars than I ever wanted to in the past few weeks... Live and learn.... who knew Ford used 500 different types and sized bars..
