My Dana 30 SAS

I hear ya there man. I plan on buy another set of shafts too here in the near future once my axles are broke in. Plan on upgrading the 8.8 to chromoly like I did in the front.

Just can't wait to get her back on the road and run it around and have the option of 4wd.

You guna do full floater (super 8.8 kit)? So you can eliminate the c-clips at the same time?

egh...probly not, never had an issue with c-clips or any of my friends who runn 8.8's. But I'll decide when time comes to order my stuff.

Found out today that its going to take 10-14 days for jester to ship my shit :annoyed: so going to work on it Friday and get everything I can done so all I will have left if mount the trac-bar, center my axle, mount steering box, and make my steering link. On the home stretch tho!:yahoo:

That is what I just put under my ranger. Just wanted to beef it up down the road.

Congrats to escort too on the OTOTM!:icon_cheers:

FYI, the super 88 kit is not a full float, its still semi float with c-clip eliminators. :D

I know, have seen them before. Nice set-up and a common mod especially when Jeep guys throw them under their rigs.

Be back out in the garage tomm, will be back with updates then. Steering shaft and new trac-bar bracket are supposed to be here today.

Done, kinda!

So I busted ass all weekend and got my truck done..kinda. It still needs a few tweeks here and there but it is drivable. Drives nice, have a bit of death wobble:shok:. But I think it is because I have not shaft support on my steering shaft to my gear box so it has room to twist while I steer and over corrects as I drive.

I have pics of my build over the weekend and will be posting them up soon.

The fresh wobble is caused from something being loose allowing your front tires to be able to go left and right, kind of like you turning your wheel left and right extremely fast.

Jack your truck up under the front axle and grab one of your tires from the front and try to move it side to side. I did the same thing when I had the DW and found my trackbar to be loose mounted to the frame allowing side to side movement that I couldn't test with the weight of the truck on the axle. Also another common spot is the trackbar mount on the axle, very common for them to wollow out and allow play too.

The steering stabilizer won't cure death wobble, it just helps take the shock out of small bumps in the road and keep your steering wheel from wanting to jerk in that direction as easy.

Look up jeep death wobble on YouTube and you will see videos of what I mean.

Also....

Can't say I've ever had the dreaded death wobble.

90% of the time death wobble is caused by a track bar issue. Worn TREs and drag links just make your steering loose.

Don't forget out of balance tires and bad ball joints

It makes your ass eat your seat when it happens.

Its not the same type of wobble though. Death wobble hits a resonate frequency and doesn't stop until you slow way down.lol

I had to come to a complete stop for mine to stop...and that involved tires squealing to a stop. Makes the people behind you learn to stay back and learn to stop riding your and everybody else's ass in traffic.
