My Bronco 2

hahahahahaha good one.
but yeah, 33's are the plan. probably a km2 or mtr w/ kev

i've gotta do A LOT of research before i get ready to buy tires. hopefully i can find something used for the time being..

but yeah to whoever asked me earlier-- i have the auto, a4ld!
i have a mdo5 down at a friends house, but i can't justify changing out the perfectly good auto (i like being lazy when driving!! lol)

nevermind. gears were sold.. 4.10's are what i'm really wanting. so... we'll see how this works out.

i like the ways the 3.73's feel w/ the 30's so i know i wouldn't like 33's with the same gears. but i think 4.56's are gonna kill my interstate speeds. so i guess i'll buy new gears.

can literally get 4.56s for $180 new... fml

i just cant see bigger tires w/ the same gears i have now..
i need to borrow some 33's from a local jeeper and see what it feels like.

Im running 3.73's with 32's and a 2.8 with a 4 speed tranny and it runs perfectly. The 32's took my rpms down 400 and its nice. Even with the stock size tires, I was still getting the same mileage that I am getting now. And with you having a 4.0, it wont know that its turning 33's with 3.73's. But cant remember if your running an auto or manual tranny though....

^I've never seen them in a TTB D35, only IFS.

I ran 3.73s with 32s and the 2.9 and it was perfect, but they suck with 35s even after the 4.0.

i ran 3.73s on 33 in my ranger with 480'000 kms on them i had a decent amount of power i got 450 km to a 65 litre tank ( i know its all canadian so you have to do the conversions lol)

i wanted to switch to 4.56s b4 i rolled it and i had the 4.0 but i dont really care about highway i wanted more power offroad. i think 4.10s would be perfect so just bite the bullet and order the 4.10s lol

oh and while your at it and have jeep buddys find a rear dana 35 carrier with l/s it can work in your front 35, there was a carrier break though i think dunno when

I say run the 3.73's and go from there, dont like them change them out. My truck has nice power offroad and IF you need more, put her in the 4LO gears.

Since everyone is talking gears....I will chime in.

I drove for 8 months on 33's and 3.73's in an 4.0L with a auto tranny. 60 miles a day, 90% freeway.

Boy was that stupid ridiculous. I got around 16mpg if I kept the rpms up about 2400 (70-75mhh). 2000 rpms doing the speed limit

Gutluss SOB thats for sure.

Offroad it sucked even more, the truck never had enough power to climb ledges, I would just sit there with my skinny self STANDING on the gas pedal and couldn't do jack.

Then I went to 4.88's and I drive a little slower on the freeway, but its much better. The truck accelerates awesome on freeway ramps, has passing power and towing power. I love it. And I picked up 2mpg (last two tanks I got 338 miles on 18.1 gas @ 65mph). That alone was worth the swap. Now my RPM's are about 2500 at 65mph, and 2800 at 70 mph.

Basically what I am saying is, nothing beats PROPER gearing. Lower RPMs on the freeway does not automatically mean better mileage.

And even though they are more expensive new, I would HIGHLY suggest 4.56's with 33's. 4.10's isn't enough for freeway driving. The 4.0L needs to be revved a little heigher than I think you think it needs to be. 4.56's will give you better mileage, better power, and better torque for wheeling.

Don't be afraid of gearing! Keep your eyes open, I see used 4.56 gearing all the time here in the classifieds. I even think there are some in there now :icon_confused:

I think you will be disappointed if you go with 4.10s, might as well do it right the first time right? Cheaper doing it once as opposed to twice :)

In my mind, you can't go wrong with a set of 4.56's gears, since thats what they reccommend for 33" tires and the 4.0L anyway. Just do it! I'm thinking you could easily do 70 mph, at 2500 RPMs AND get better mileage. At least that's what my numbers suggest.

Might go that route. Foxracin wants to trade his 4.56's for 4.10. So I might be able to trade the 8.8 gears and then just buy the front gears. Idk.

I might be able to have front and rears for $100ish if I traded my rears. Think I might just gamble and try the 4.56's. It's not THAT big of a difference from 4.10's to 4.56's anyways. But it's gonna suck till I get tires.
