My 96 Ranger

My weekend project:

Well, that was easy. A fuel pump and filler neck in 2 hours ain't bad. We actually didn't take the bed off all the way, we set it on the tires and bumper. It was plenty of room, even for my fat ass.

Here's how my bed looked after I took the bed liner out. It looks pretty good for a 15 year old bed.

The bolts were in great shape for their age as well.

Here is the source of my leak.

I got her looking spiffy today..... and wanted to test out the Droid camera.

That happened with my other '97 as well (my fuel filler neck was cracked exactly like yours). I was quoted way too much for a new neck from Ford or eBay, so I took off my bed and used RTV gasket sealer for it. Coated the problem areas, and it fixed it perfectly. Didn't have any trouble with it, and it worked great. Best part, is that it got fixed for only $0.50!

I've been without fogs for the longest time. I secretly have been waiting for something to happen so I can make a new tube bumper. lol

I definitely enjoy the fog lights. When I had my Explorer I used to ram snow banks all the time with it. I've had to really watch myself so I don't break my fog lights and valence.

I can't believe you got your leak to stop with RTV. How long did you have it like that before you sold it?

It worked great for 2.5 years (until a drunk driver T-boned & totalled me). I inspected it @ ~ the 2 year mark, and it looked the same as the day I put it on (plus dirt).

I'm usually not down for redneck fixes, but this was an exception. If it's made for things like headgaskets and differential covers, measly vapor pressure and fuel should not break it down so easily. And, being the consistency that it is, dynamic cycling should not be a problem.
