Thank you all for the compliments. My truck is in really great shape considering it's 14 years old, which is why I thought 2700 was a steal to buy it for. I was fortunate enough to buy it from the original owner, so I was able to get a history on everything. Much of the credit goes to him though for how clean it is.
When I was looking for a truck there was A LOT of complete garbage for Rangers out there. I'm talking non-engaging 4wd, noisy as hell going down the road, bad paint, etc. Most of them had a hack job stereo install too. I had called this guy and he lived up in Orem, which is roughly 40-45 minutes from where I live. He told me the check engine light was on, it ran really rough, and that he had just been rear ended in it (bumper was bent). So I was reluctant to go up there after all of the trash I had been seeing. My wife talked me into going up there and looking at it. When I saw it, I didn't think it was the right truck because of how nice it looked. When I drove it, I could tell it had an engine miss, so I called him and asked him if he was OK with me taking it over to Autozone to have the CEL scanned. The scan said it had a cylinder 4 misfire and it had a low voltage signal from the ACT sensor. Anyway, I negotiated with him down to 2700 (He was asking 3500) because of the CEL and it needed a rear bumper. I got it home, put on plug wires and found the ACT sensor wasn't plugged in. Viola, just like new. Then I found a guy from the local classifieds (
www.ksl.com) who was building a pre-runner from a truck he bought in CA so he was selling the parts he wasn't using. So I got his rear bumper and the practically unused receiver for 75 bucks. So I had exactly what I wanted for 100 more dollars..... an unmolested Ranger.
Oh, and I got the trailer for 100 bucks on the local classifieds too. It's a well built trailer. I had to rewire it, and I added a sway bar to it. It needs new shocks still, but it does the job. It came with the 33 inch Pro Comps on it already.
Damn it feels good to be a gangster.
