My 91 Ranger the stRanger

I will just have to see once I get into the swap what will fit and what is going to need some help fitting. I am not opposed to modifying the hood, but like I said I'll have to wait and see. I am going to look into the intake adapter you were talking about too

bc broncos has some cool stuff and will help explain some issues with the intake.

their adapter to put the mustang intake on the 351 lower is pretty cool...used to only be 108 bux shipped...not sure what it is now as the prices arent on the page till you order from what it looked like to me.

i mod the upper framerails a bit and you can use sn platform or fox swap type 351 headers, most units clear with aerostar linkage and factory box location.

with sas, if you go with a over rail type steering box and build a nice k member you can fit about anything you want. i have seen a few trucks running eb headers using similar setups to the horn mounts i have made before. i almost used that setup initially when i swapped the 6.5 into my rig when i pulled the 302 out. its easy to do and tie together with channel and makes pulling the oil pan for inspections a breeze.

most guys just trim the stock ttb member with sas trucks and thats fine for 302's and stock engines, but beyond that, building a nice k setup is ideal and opens up so many more options for steering and headers and oilpans and shit like that..

you can fit a stock 351 efi setup with a 3 in bodylift with custom k member...or horn/k members.

but honestly unless your building horsepower as a initial goal, a stock mustang setup on one of those bc bronco adapters is the easy button and you get a much nicer torque curve over a 302. run the mustang cam with a rollmaster timing set and i could be happy with a rig like yours.

if for some reason you want to make some decent power, you will need to go to a different setup all the way around anyway so living with a stock efi 351 is a great way to get started really....

i have extra stock ho intakes laying around if you want to try that route via the bc bronco adapter as well. active military guy would get that for the cost of shipping from me. been injured and laid off or i would just send it. but my wife will kick me in the balls if i do.:D

you plan to run the stock electronics as well?

Thanks for the intake offer, I may take you up on that when I cram the 351 in there. I looked and the adapter they sell is like $110 or somewhere around there.
I plan to run all the stock electronics. I just plan to tear it down to a bare block, get it bored, honed, and cleaned. Put a cam in and do a rebuild. Nothing to crazy. I may have it installed by August.

Ok update on the engine swap. I am sourcing the engine from an 89 bronco. A friend called me and asked if I was I was interested in it, body and Interior is crap but my friend said the engine sounded and looked good. So I bought the whole engine, computer and wiring for $500 sight unseen. I get to my friends house where we had it driven and start looking into it more.
A guy on base bought it to restore, but he got orders over seas and can't take it with. It has 49,000 original miles on it and it runs really strong! I was going to do an engine rebuild originally but it still runs great, has low miles and no leaks so I think it's not needed. I am pulling it out next week along with my engine and letting the fun begin.
My doubler will be for sale soon if anyone is interested.

Hit me up when you're ready. I may be interested if the price is right.

Yanked the 351 out today. Tearing it down tomorrow

Got a fist gen lightning upper and lower intake coming, small block ford header building kit, high volume oil pump and gasket set coming. Tomorrow I am going to pull the harness and computer and get the wiring nightmare started.

Still needed:
Single bore throttle body
Intake gaskets
Cam
Gear drive timing set
Gauges
T case
Bunch of other shit that's going to nickel and dime me

Haha yeah no kidding. A new rear axle for sure soon after the swap, curious actually how the 8.8 and 44 with chromos will hold up to it though

How heavy is your foot? You'll probably snap outer u-joints up front before a shaft. You'll probably just snap the rear shafts lol.

Buddy is running a 5.3 in a cj with a 8.8 and Dutchman shafts and he blew two 1310 drivelines apart at the same time. So I'd say it will hold up with shafts. Here's the pics we talked about. I think the vss info I found on here and pirate. I believe it was out of a 80s f150 but I'm not sure.
