Got the Ranger 8.8 out tonight and the Explorer ready to have perches burned onto it... Should be in and on its own weight tomorrow. I don't have money for gear oil right now (lol) so it'll just sit in the driveway as usual.

I'm just gonna run the 3.55 gears in the axle until I have some money to have my 4.56s set up in it and grab an install kit. Then I'll pick up an Aussie for it and be back in business.

And that is a prime example of why the Explorer 8.8 is swapped in place of the Ranger 8.8

Yep, lesson learned. I don't know why I didn't build an Explorer 8.8 instead of a Ranger 8.8.... I think I thought moving the perches would be hard or something.. Oh well.

The new axle is in place. I need to figure out shock mounts, hook up the brakes, and fill it with gear oil. Man the gearing is gonna suck.

Why don't you swap your gears over?

I may try it or have a friend try it.... I'll at least need an install kit though, the Explorer axle has a pinion seal and noisy bearings. The Ranger axle is basically fubar'ed. The gears should be fine though.

Just about as expected. I already got my axles for my upgrade so its time to beat the d35 and 31 spline 8.8 to death and see how long they stay in one piece. I carry spare shafts so it will be interesting how long before I need to use them....

I downloaded Google SketchUp and messed around a bit with it.

I've got some ideas for a rear too, but I need to mess with them some more. I'm not totally sure what I want.
