My 91 Exploder

4th pic down, whats up with the rear axle there? looks like it isnt centered in the wheel-well? is it just the angle of the pic?

Just the angle of the pic. The pic isnt straight on with the rear end and the rear rake is making it look weird. Going to put my shackles back on and see if that levels it out a little bit.

those springs look like they have a LOT of travel...

humor me here, as i don't know a whole lot about steering components, but the way you have your steering set up, it looks to me like it would cause the wheels to turn right if you hit any bumps... does that actually happen?

any plans to change that stock crossmember, or will it not interfere with anything?

What you are describing would be bump steer. If the angle of the trac bar and drag link are not the same or pretty close it will have bump steer. The length of them also plays a little role in it also.

With the angles I have and the lengths are very similar also it shouldnt have any bump steer. If it hits a bump the whole front end will shift to the passenger side slightly but since the drag link is at the same angle the wheels will stay straight.

If the angles were not the same the front end would shift to the passenger side and the steer would turn slightly causing bump steer.

Not planning on doing anything to the crossmemebr. It clears everything great not. Havent flexed it out yet but looks like everything will be good. Trac bar will tuck up into it nicely.

ahhhhh, thanks for the excellent explanation... i had actually envisioned a system that might allow for not needing that, with still having lots of travel, basically using a v shaped arm, the corner being hinged so the v can get wider... i would have to draw it out to really explain... it wouldn't cause anything to go sideways though, so your link system would need to be changed if you were to do what i was thinking anyways...

^^^sound's kinda like inverted Y^^^

look's awsome. I really need to finish my axle's and get em swaped in. Ditch the D30 before the 37's take there toll on it.

i just read this whole thread and its really came a long way! youve gotten some good deals, and done some good work! keep it up!

Not in the plans right now but never know. Might decide to do it one day.

I do have some inserts coming from Ballistic Fab to weld in the knuckles to move the tie rod on top of the knuckles so it will move the tierod up around 3-4 inches.

thats badass, good work!
