Hello scotts90ranger. I missed your post. I did get the clutch issue worked out and that whole clutch line does have to come out. I get to do it again eventually the rear main seal sprung a leak. I will do everything new then.

One fender is off of a Bronco 2 the other is a Ranger. Starting to get back on the bodywork. I had to drive the truck in the winter and remove all of the old primer and some surface rust. Have a few dings to fill. I worked from the doors forward, roof, and hood. Truck is not coming out of shop until painted. Too much work to get it sterile for painting.

I also had some hail damage. Not bad but we get all kinds of weather here. I have a friend that is going to help me replace some metal in the wheel arches. I will only get the cab painted for now but I really want to get this project wrapped up. I have to have it done by June as my shop gets too hot by June.

I felt a low spot. Started to sand it down to weld a stud and found previous work had been done on this fender

Stud welded and pulled dent out. It was just filled with bondo. I will have to do a skim coat but a lot shallower now.

The drivers fender was worse then I thought. I am nearly done with it. Just have to work on lower side a bit more

Passenger fender and doors done. Plan on extended cab and roof to do today. Took a few days off from work. Going to start removing door locks, mirrors and handles.

A reference picture for me. These are spacers 4 tabs from the outside of truck. I think they just hold windshield in place. A lot of debris was under the trim. If you look, you can see 3 drain holes to the cowl to let rain out. These were clogged on me.

Another reference picture trim tab has knob at top. Will look for replacements.

Priming and painting around trim leaves a poor paint job in my opinion. Use a center punch to knock out center pin.

I used a 3/8th drill bit to remove the top of the rivet.

I just pulled down on rid to free from the handle.

Once handle was off I used a 1/4 inch bit to remove rest of rivet.

I removed door striker to keep from getting locked out.

Then I pried this clip off to remove lock.

Once clip is off, you can work it out and pry the clip loose.

Not the best way but I ran a string thru truck to keep closed and tied to the bed.

Really regretting priming the whole tail gate. I did it to make it one complete color. Now getting the old contaminated paint out of the nooks and crannies is a pain. I pulled the bumper to get acces to some dents that bumper was blocking.

Been having a tough time getting this roof dent level. I think I am about to get it.

I did go get primer, paint,and sealer. I am hoping to at least get the cab painted tomorrow or the next day.

I still have more trim to remove. I do not like masking and the more I can remove the easier. Window seals will be coming out. I can refer back to my thread for tips I used on that a long time go.

I will paint the bed separate to have more room in the shop and get cab back together. I will unfortunately have to paint over the rust in the fender wells. A friend of mine can weld a whole lot better then me and we are having a truck repair weekend in a month if so. Repainting the repair will be so much easier then. Not sure if I will get to the bed yet.

I did get me some HF saw horses for when I do paint the bed.

I am going to get most of the trim off. I really want to pull back glass and rear window but will mask them. Don’t like the idea but a lot of interior trim has to come out.

I found a better idea for passenger door, A bungee strap to the steering wheel. Still have not found a solution to drivers door. Thinking of something similar and leaving window down with lots of masking.

I pulled the bed. Cab and bed will get paired separately. I would rather paint both at same time but it takes a lot if space. Also I like to get the rear of the cab painted and have time bondo to do on the cab corners when I had to weld in new cab corners. Maybe with a little luck I will get cab painted today or possibly tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

This is going to be my view most of the day. Still got to work on the lower section all the way around. Also I took the high pressure air hose and blew all the loose debris from under the wheel wells and under the truck that may get blown when painting. I washed as best I could at car wash before pulling it in the shop.

I have known about this for a while but it is getting worse the Rear Main Seal used to only drip. After I get body work done, I plan on doing a complete clutch job along with rear main seal.
