First coat of paint. Much happier with results over the cab. First time in about 5 years.

First coat of clear on tail gate.

My personal Public Service Announcement is to make sure you remove gas cap before removing bed. Hope this helps others. lol. New gas cap on the way.

Got new tail lights, coil springs and one blinker lenses I got them off of eBay. Supposed to gotten a pair of blinker lenses so hoping the other one is in the mail. I’m going to see what having the bed professionally lined or doing it myself. As soon as I can get help to get bed back on truck to see it all together and new hardware on it us something I am anxiously awaiting.

I called OC Carpet. I really can’t tell which color of blue I have. They sent me this high resolution picture and it still didn’t seem to match what I have. I am thinking Regeatta Blue or Steel Blue. As soon as I get their samples and determine which color I have I will order the new carpet and do my head liner at same time.

Cab was in the rain. Bed was in the shop. Just sitting on there, not bolted down.

Tail lights and tail gate on. I will get inside the bed taken care of quick. The red is a give away that is not original.

Great job on the bodywork and paint job!

Thanks MT_PLS. I am really trying to get this truck done before the heat kicks in. June is just too hot to be in the shop. I have been doing a great job on it but there are a few flaws. The first picture of when I got the truck hides so many issues. It getting better everyday.

Of course after I get the bed sitting on the truck. My Eastwood rust encapsulator shows up. I’m mostly using it to blacken the frame and suspension for overall better look. I went to Eastwood website to buy one can. It was pretty expensive. I got two cans off of eBay or Amazon for about the same price.

We are our own biggest critics.

You're doing damn good work on that old truck. Probably, even, with better workmanship that you would get if you paid somebody else to do it.

If that was my truck, coming along like it is, I'd be happier than a puppy with two peters with it.

Thanks RobbieD... I am a happy little puppy, lol been giving it my best. There is somethings I know if I had someone else to do it, they would not have done as good of a job on it. I kind of wish I had done a better job of showing just what kind of condition the truck was in when I got it and now to where it is at is saying something for what I

I am an old fart. I just want the basics on a stereo. After looking at a few stereo shops and other places, they were one knob, big display stereos. I want two knobs. One for volume and one for station location. Decided to look at Walmart online and found this. A whopping $22 and has blue tooth. Hope it is what I am looking for. It on its way.

Rain for now all the way to the weekend. If all goes well, I hope to get coil springs in, 17 gallon gas tank in, new lenses, bed interior prepped for liner, bed mounted for the last time. I have several parts coming in the mail. I have cab bushings I hope get here before the weekend. Plenty of things to get done if all goes well and no delays or something going wrong. I think I will run out of weekend before I run out of task. As is in most cases.

I got my new 17 gallon tank in.

Digging around the shed I found a better grill I had for gotten about. This is my original grill. The beat up Ford emblem is off my grill I found.

New grill with the best emblem I have and new blinker lenses. Some other small details done. Bed is finally mounted for the last time. Having issues with right blinker. Grrr…

I got my new 17 gallon tank in.

Dude, that new tank is just too pretty to cover up. I'd be tempted to custom the bed with a Plexiglas floor just so I could admire the tank and that clean frame . . .

You're killin' it. That truck is going to be a hoot to drive around. It'll be just like going back in time to the 80s.

Thanks RobbieD..I was out in the shop around 10 this morning andcame in at 5:30. I cannot believe how fast the day went. Mostly small details that just take time. I was really impressed with the gas tank. It was a great fit and it does look good. I am giving it my best. Thanks again!!!!

I am posting these pictures to another member what holds the extended cab side glass in. Just 4 bolts. You have to remove quite a bit of trim to get access to the nuts. I just ordered carpet and plan on doing my headliner at same time as doing either one just about requires the same trim pieces to come out. If all goes well this might be my next weekend project if carpet and headliner.
