my 4x4 conversion ideas........

1350 shifter will work on a 54, the 50 differs from the 54 in that the front output is not a slip fit, it is bolt on, everything else is the same. The dshaft I'm not sure of, you'll have to do some measuring. I know it is a direct swap for the 95-97 xcab trucks with the two piece shaft, but not sure on the earlier years...

So later model one piece shaft is a direct swap for the older 2 piece ones? Both being ex cab of course.

Yep, in 98 they started making the one piece shaft for xcabs...

Nice! I am goin with the one piece. I still need to locate an 4x4 output shaft for my 5spd M5OD and a 4x4 tailstock extension......anyone got them??

Check with Taragon, if he don't have one, he can locate you one

Does it matter where the VSS goes from my 04, either in the extension housing(some extension housing do not have the hole) or the t-case? The shafts spin at the same speed and the holes look to be the same diameter............

i would measure the front axle from the exploder because i think that the wheelbase is like 4 in. wider than the ranger. even if they are the same width, i would check to make sure that the gear ratio is the same as your rear axle. if not, you will have some serious binding problems.
