My $3,500 Jaguar - The 'Mad Jag'

71837

My girlfriend didn't want it to look like a pimpmobile. I ordered the fabric above (note the houndstooth pattern). We went more for a British suit look (Kingsmen).

I found this at Hobby Lobby but it's to gray:

Even tried to seel my girlfriend on this:

And if you think that's bad, my first thought was leopard print:

Trying to use material with print (lines) on it was the worst project idea I've probably ever had. I'm never doing that again.

It took me hours to cover this headliner. The pockets where the grab handles go are so deep it was making it really difficult to contour the fabric around it, and keeping the lines straight was impossible. At one point I thought about ripping it off and putting the beige headliner on that I had bought that was slightly off in color, but decided to press on and see how it turned out.

When I removed the old liner I used a scrub brush for dishes to brush all of the old foam off, and then used 3M headliner adhesive.

The headliner is to gray, but the dash and the top of the door panels have a brownish gray color on them. I plan to pull the carpet out, pressure wash it, and dye it black. Hopefully that will help make it all blend together. Also make it easier to find floor mats that will match. ;) The handles, visors, and overhead console will hopefully help blend it all in.

In the end, I bought the car to drive and enjoy, not make a show car, so I'm not to concerned that the headliner isn't perfect.

I went to start the Jag to make sure the battery was fully charged before I started trouble shooting the interior lights. It wouldn't start. Turns over, but doesn't start.

I scanned the codes and finally got the 'P0628 - Fuel Pump A Control Circuit Low' code that the seller had got.

So I don't know. Maybe the engine isn't getting any fuel.

I didn't look.

Is that the part where we suspected had a vacuum leak?
