My 1996 Ford Ranger 4x4 (TRS-2) Re-Build

How big is the snorkel pipe?

John Deere 4010/4020 diesel has a 3" air stack, the boot R57119 is about $20

Any idea what the outside diameter is. I have a 3-inch snorkel pipe.

The outside of the 4010 pipe in the back was right at 3" OD

Or do mean the diameter of the actual boot?

Not sure why it took me so long to notice this thread, but nice job. I really like your hood. This is our race truck hood. The bottom says "And those who stood before us."

Love it!

@85_Ranger4x4 I meant the od of the boot.

The petrified one from 1961 in the back is about 5.5", I suspect a new one would be a little bigger.

It would probably want to sit about where your pipe flares out to go over the stack going to the breather though. It might be kinda hard to get on with the breather cover riveted on too.

Well here's my 3rd grade art project.

I took the piece I cut out, trimmed it, and stuck it back in with some JBweld marine stuff that looks like Elmer's glue. It's not going to hold.

Covered the gap in the back with Gorilla tape, and the hole in the cowl from the old snorkel with Gorilla tape also.

Fawkin thing still howls!!

I guess I need to clean my IAC.

:poop:

I'm wondering is a 45 degree angle elbow would have the tube run up along the A pillar? So it looks more like a traditional snorkel.

As far as the howl, since the last part of the tubing is over sized. I wonder is putting some fiberglass ceiling tile, or something along those lines, on the inside of the tube would muffle the sound? Sort of like a glass pack for the intake.

Replaced the IAC this morning. Problem solved.
