Murphy, the one ton B2 build

Yet another sweet build Kyle! Where do you usually measure off of to get pinion and caster angle and what is a good angle to aim for?

I measure at the ball joint for caster and usually shoot for 5*-7*

Axle stripped and ready to be twisted back

As i was stripping it I noticed the twisted area, the housing next to the tube you can see the tube twisted

Gonna replace balljoints, u joints and a wheel bearing while its apart.

Got the axle twisted back, then I cleaned it up, pre heated it and welded the tubes to the housing. I left it at work under a welding blanket to cool.

Time to get materials to build a truss.

The cut lines are marks I put in it before I twisted it back...moved a long way

Had a good morning, got the rear shackle area built. The angle is a little steeper than I wanted, but I think it will be fine. Used a set of bushings, some dom and boxed in the rear frame section.

Then I got a good start on the truss, I think I like the way this is going

Figured out what your doing for suspension up front (coils, airshocks, etc)?

Got a little more work done on the truss

Added a couple gussets on the inside

Then started plating the top

It's all made of 3/16. Think I am going to add a couple drains in the back. Think I should hole saw a few holes in it, maybe sleeve them for strength?

It's a little late, but putting a few dimple dies in the front, back and top plates as well as the gussets would have both greatly strengthened the truss as well as lighten the weight...looks good though. At this point, like you said, drill a few holes for sleeves...

Looks good. It's fun to watch the master at work.

Sent from my iPhone.

Got the truss done for the most part, but forgot to snap a pic before I slid it back under ....so deal with a crappy pic.

I ran the truss out to the c's, I don't mind it I guess. Now on to getting it installed.

Also picked up some new to me rollers till I can buy some good ones. 36.5" rvt tires on some stock 8 lug wheels. I hope they last a few runs but for the price, I can't complain.

Where did you get the front axle from? I thought all Dodges after 94 had the disconnect
