hey i'm about to order tires but can't decide what ones to go with, i don't do too much serious mudding, just logging roads and the odd trail or two, so i know i probably should go with the all terrains, but the Muds look so good...what would you do? what do you guys prefer

bfg muds for 194
Pro comp muds for 196
bf all terrains for 177
or pro comp all terrains for 162

muds... no doubt about it! Leave the mall terrains for .... well..... the mall!

yeah i think im leaning that way...mikewild your from Van as well?

Yeah the muds do look alot better, stick with the BFG's. They're better than the Pro Craps.

Definatly go with all terrains. I have BFG All Terrain T/A's and I think they are a great tire. I also drive on logging roads and go off roading time to time. You will also get alot better gas milage than with mud terrians and with high gas prices that is something to consider. Also all terrians are generally less expensive and you will get more miles out of them.

Muds. All terrains are warmed over all-seasons.

i had bfg a/ts.... they were good, lasted long, but sucked off road(even wet grass was too much for them) they looked good though. i didnt realize how little traction they had until i got my dunlops("dunflops"). they are awesome for an all-terrain tire, way more tread. so much better traction..... but i still wish they were muds.

ok....32x11.5r15 bfg muds it is!!! i can get them for 195 a tire...do you guys think that gas mileage will be much worse than with my 245/75R16's?

i go as skinny as i can, 10.50's. i get the same gas mileage with my 33x10.50 as i did with my 235/75r15's.

i think i'd rather have the extra inch in width, than height...

yo wont notice that much of a change with 32's

This was a perfect discussion for me as I'm making the EXACT same choice right now, m/t or a/t.......

I had pretty well decided on m/t's already. I was going to go with the pro-comp Xm/t's but now I'm hearing bad things about the procomps in this thread. Should I be looking at the Grabber m/t's (same as the bfg m/t but much cheaper)? Or does anyone have much experience on the pro-comps?

Maybe I should just start my own thread...

Stay away from the poo comps, I've heard nothing but bad things about them. A buddy ran the grabbers on his truck and liked them. I've only run BFG muds, Goodyear MTR's and Kumho Muds on my trucks and have had no issues with them. I just ordered some 34 LTB's for the ranger, and I'm curious to how they'll perform.
