muds or all terrains?

I was deceiding between the BFG and Cooper STT in a 33x12.5R15. The STT has siped tread, excellent in rain, and has more aggressive sidewalls. I've got 2 buddies running BFG Muds, and both like the STT pattern more and were very impressed by how they did offroad.

hey pillen 140 can you post some pics of your 33 10.50's im thinkin of getting a set I even heard you can get away with using them without a lift. I also like how it isn't absolutly necessary to change the gearing when the tires are that skinny.

i really wish my bronco had bfg m/t's but it came with 35" bfg a/t's brand new so im not complaining, they are descent but suck in mud, and im not talking 6" deep cause thats not mud, im talking few ft deep, tread just fills in with mud since there not self cleaning and then ur stuck, but eventually make it through with a lot of skinny pedal use with the 351m. i think u will be happier with the muds if ur gonna use it offroad

a/ts do look cool atleast, but not aggressive as id like

just a chime in I have MT/R's they have 35 grand on them and im still at about half tread good in the mud and so far not too loud on the road btw their 245/75/16 they were $185 4yrs ago. next time I get tires I will get the same just wider.

Got the new rubber put on yesterday, ended up going with a 265/75 16 (31.7x10.5) Toyo Open Country MT.. They look wicked and should perform nicely I think.

I'll put some pics up later..

if these are 31's then what is the equivalent size for 285/70r17?

i also live in vancouver, wouldn't get any tire that isn't siped unless it's on a trail rig. snow, ice, rain... gotta be able to stop so you don't run over the civics when they stop for no reason.

i'll run bfg at's to do some weekend off roading with my dd until the day it's a trail rig. then go to mt's

all about priorities.

Well i run two set's... i have 33 BFG a/t's for long distance road journey's and i have the 35 Procomp x-terrain's... I love the look of the x-terrain (and they aren't to loud) as for gas miles... to be honest since i still have 3:73's (i know, i know they are getting changed) and 35's it cost $132.35 to go to Sunpeaks and back (Vancouver) last weekend.. which ain't bad... But and the big but... the procomp are already starting to seporate... and they only have 7000 Km... (although my buddy has run 4 sets to the ground with no problems.... i just happened to get a crappy set)

Hope this helps

Go with the Muds

I also had to make that decision. However I wanted to keep my stock rims as I loved the look and they are in mint cond. I opted for 33"/10.50/R15 BFG Muds over the A/T's. They look great, however sometimes I feel I should've bough wider. I have 1.5" wheel spacers at home that are waiting to go on. I think that will improve the look. I just hope they fit over the front hubs... will see!!

i found a decent mudgrip for my ranger. i got dunlop mud rovers and they do GREAT in the mud. i paid 100 bucks a piece for my 30x9.50x15''s and they seem to wear great.

We run BFG All Terrain K/O's on all our trucks at work, they're amazing in the mud and snow, and perform well on the highway.

hm i had a set of bfg a/t and they sucked to soft of a tire everyone i know at my school has em and they wore out fast and they were pricy. i just got a set of 31 10.5 r15 yokohama geolander at/s , so far i like them good tire , lol mind u its winter but ive went through the ditch a couple times in few ft of snow and so far there pretty damn good, good tire for winter good control, they aren't a soft tire either so they should last a long time look into them
