(moved) 84' XLT Project

That item you found behind the passenger side kick panel is your computer. Without it your truck wont ho anywhere fast as it advances/retards your timing, adjusts the amount of fuel your truck gets ( yes, it may be a carbed engine but it has a feed back carb), and other things such as exhaust emissions. If your state requires emissions testing dont get rid of it. Now some states dont require emissions testing, like my state, or some font require it on vehicles older then 25 years old. Another thing Im told my state use to do was vehicle inpections.

As for the rust spots on the floor those are common on Rangers. The rusted covers that are by your feet give you access to the cab bolts, same as onthe passenger side. the smallers one that are almost under you when you sit are drain plugs (at least thats what I use them for). As for the carpet, I wouldnt put it back in due to it holds moisture against the floors rotting them out unless you put under body spray on the floor first.

I just put it back to see how clean it would look, I want to get the carpet shampoo-er and clean both the bench, and the carpet tomorrow.

I will vaccum the doors too, and give the interior a fine dusting, and all the panels a nice cleaning. When I have it all back inside, I hope it looks nice.

As for that hole, should I replace the pan? or remove the rust spot and patch from the bottom?

Alright, did some cleaning as you saw!

Here is what I did today:
The tracks now work OKAY, they still need a thorough cleaning, but they work now.

The Shifter Bezel has a blown light, and an exposed wire, so I used electrical tape on the wire and waiting for a bulb right now.

Having electrical issues still, but since very few read this thing, I made a new post about it

Talked to dad when I got home from camping, and we are gonna be getting that parts truck after all.

I found out all this actually:

-The guy who was gonna sell my dad the truck passed away, but the son knew who it was supposed to go to and for how much (he is keeping his father's word).
-Once dad gets the money or once I get the money (which ever one comes first) we will be grabbing the truck.
-The cab IS welded to the frame, but it was tacked down by an idiot, they "pooled" the weld, so I am gonna have one helluva time removin those welds.
-Dad doesn't want me doin major work on the Beast cause he wants to use it as a farm truck still.
-We might be losing out farm because we cannot pay for it, and the gas company is still tryin to go through us.
-I am utterly in the shits with stress and fear because of all the above thats bad.....

On my 84' XLT

patchwork, bondo for fenders (temp), weld work, new frame portion on rear, new rims + tires, headlight, side mirrors, brake + gas lines, and maybe a new muffler too.

Everything else is fine.

Will be putting up images of work that needs done here for a little while, and then moving it up to being a REAL project, now that it runs, I will be doing some small part replacement, brake lines, and hopefully getting some replacement frame chunks to rid myself of the rotten portion of the back of my frame.

I REALLY need parts, and they are simple!!!

please check out my needed parts list!!!

Got some 5M shots today with the new camera, its pretty good, I am liking it already, but a larger card would be nice =P. (Note: took around 30 seconds+ for each image to upload).

Alright, down to business, here is the frame damage in clarity: (sorry the third one is a little fuzzy, ran out of card room after 9 shots).

I also need to fix the small stuff, like new side mirrors, bondo the damn bed, I am going to patch it later on, and bondo the broken portion of the bed that was previously bondo'd haha, its just for cosmetic =P, and then patch the cab corners, reweld and patch some of the interior, and remove some JB weld.

I will need around $50 for the Bondo, $30 for the sheetmetal (make patches), $15 for sanding supplies, $35 for the paint, $40 for the mirrors (obo), $10 for the rear view mirror (obo), $40 for the frame segments (obo), $20 for used shackles (obo), $30 for used shocks (obo), $55 for the down on the brake-line bender (refundable), and $45 for the brake line.

any suggestions or better deals?

STILL LOOKING FOR EXPLORER SPORT EMBLEMS!

yup, I determined its good except the back 3', the main parts that hold the leaf springs and the shocks.

ALL of that needs replaced.

went frame browsing and found an 03' edge deal for $150, worth it?

it would be 210 with the cost of gas and trailer rental

isnt your frame a C type? and i think that since 98+ the frames were boxed type.
i think u should look for one of your trucks gen

hey, I can modify the mounts, IDC, anything is better than my frame =P

Is there anything you can do onyour farm to make money besides farmwork? Do you have a shop where you can do small welding on the side, or automechanics on the side?
