(moved) 84' XLT Project

As for body mounts, I've seen people use 90 degree angle iron, .25in thick stuff.

As far as putting the ranger body on a BII frame, you will have to shorten your bed to a 6ft one instead of the 7ft bed it is plus are the holes there in the broncho frame for the be clips so that you can bolt the bed on, change your ranger gas tank over to it, etc... Plus determine is the axles and other things on the BII frame are anybetter then what you have on your ranger now or not to see if you want to swap them over too.

What year is the BII frame? I'm told in 89 Ford made a few changes to the frame. The BII was dicontinued in 90 IIRC.

As for the last picture, looks like somebody did a nasty bondo job to the bed. I'm going to be putting the same exact doors on my ranger soon too, cant wait to have the tri-angle window. I hate how the rust forms around where the bolt holes for the mirror are.

I've got some much body work to do on my truck too, but I'm more focused on my SAS then anything, another 1-2 months of saving, should have more then enough to buy the longe arms I want.

Thanks!

Also lookin at getting this if it is still available and save up the money =)
If so, the ranger is gonna be put down for a bit and this will be my DD.

A good carb cleaning, change of oil and spark plugs and maybe new tires, should do the job.

My grandpa had a 72 f-150 and was told to put a 68 distributor in it by people who dragged raced and everything and I was told that he said it mad a worlds difference in performance. His had an auto tranny in it that had the problem of kicking itself into reverse gear which was later fixed due to a recall, and yes it did it to him one day.

alright, I always liked the older Ford mirrors on trucks they were large, but very useful.

Cannot wait to get my new job and grab it! almost wanna go buy it now! (no cash though =P), I am seeing about maybe 400 or 500 instead of 6, but all depends. will offer him 300, he will say no, I will then say all I have is 450, and he will give me an answer yes or no, if I get desperate, I will just say 550 is my final offer, saving 50 is saving 50 =P.

From the looks of it, its far from road legal, but would be a nice fixer-upper, nice size engine too!

not a big fan of over sized mirrors, then again, i dont tow stuff. altho, i bet those mirrors are good for hitting pedestrians

yup, indeed they are!

I wanted to see about replacing this project with it, seeing about calling him up today =), might go down and see it tomorrow or something with Jason.

did not call, gonna later on when mom doesn't see me doin it, she is very insecure about me making deals on my own saying "your gonna get us robbed!"

..... yeah.... someone roughly an hour away and about 75 years old is gonna go out of there way to a house they dont the address of to steal from a house thats locked... hmmm..... make sense?

Will this truck be in any better condition then the ranger orwill it cost just as much to get it on the road driving?

dunno, I think the engine runs, but somethin thatold is WORTH restoring XD the frame is the big question though.

sucks living in the rust belt eh? if i was u and had $$$, id weld one up from the stuff they sell at the welding supply store, fully boxed too! :icon_hornsup:

yup, he said it needed a LOT of work..... so I am skipping on it in favor of this 1984 Ford Ranger that needs some parts from a deer collision. Used as a farm truck for 6 years, no rough work done with it. About 3 hours away or so, it runs and should pass inspection with some body work and some extra parts.
