Motor Mount Replacement

Hello! It seems the motor mounts on my 3.0L '94 Mazda are going. Does anybody have any advice on how to check which ones are shot, how to replace them, or any other advice on the matter? Thank you!

Pry bar....and maybe a to change them also a jack, and some sockets & wrenches.

Besides prying around to see which is bad, while engine is running, apply brakes and and just a little throttle to give resistance, and check which side is moving around /rising up more.

I always change both motor mounts and the transmission mount if any one is bad. Usually one new will cause the others to go bad after. They all kinda work together.

I feel a bit dumb asking this, but where are the motor mounts located? Am I going to have to go under the car to get to them? Where should I look? I've been searching for a bit, but I'm not as familiar with the engine bay as I was with my old truck.

The engine mounts are on the left and right side of the engine. Look for the metal blocks the engine is sitting on. These will also be connected at the frame. They should be about in the middle of the engine block on either side.

I would only expect one side to move up. Torque from the engine is always in the same direction.

True, but it does kinda jiggle around enough to help diagnose. I do prefer the pry bar

If you don't know where the motor mounts are at the minimum a Hayes manual will be your friend and they can be found at your local parts store for 20 dollars or so. If you are feeling really froggy search ebay or Amazon for the official ford powertrain, body and electrical/vacuum manuals. Armed with that knowledge you'll be able to tackle just about anything as long as you have the tools and the time.
