Modified A/C blower housing

Looks like your original got a little hot...lol

I tried to make it fit my 302 by heating and eventually cutting it but ended up saying "screw it" and spending $20 for a non-a/c one that looked a lot better than anything I could make and saved my time for something more productive than reinventing the wheel.

It takes me more time to go to the wrecker and get a new one than to just do what I did...

Besides, $5 in epoxy at the dollar store is cheaper than a new housing.

honestly I did this more to prove to myself that Its doable. If I ever did it again, I would take more time doing it so it looks a bit better, but all and all I am not unhappy with what I ended up with.

The wrecker is an hour away from me but I also had engine clearance issues to deal with. It was either pretty much remake a box from scratch or get a non-ac box and heat/push in the corner a tiny bit.

I want to restore the thing and the pretty engine is its centerpiece so I wanted it to look nice under the hood.

I had enough other things on the project to keep me busy until I had a chance to go up to Omaha to get a housing. I wasn't "stuck" on the heaterbox to get the thing up and running and I had no real use for heat until I got it running and to an exhaust shop anyway.

I wasn't knocking what you did but that was my rational at the time. I did my swap at work and was in a crunch to get the thing done and out of there before spring planting started.

Now I was in the exact opposite boat. I had removed the housing to replace my valve cover gasket (specifically get the valve cover back on) and I have also been removing AC components as they make them selves easily accessible during other work... SO I figured now was the perfect time to deal with the condensor or whatever.

Because I already had the hoses taken off the heater core to take the housing out, I decided to modify the housing before putting anything back together.

As for the wrecker, its either an hour each way to the cheap one, or 20-30min each way to the costly one, plus time taking out a housing... So I figure I saved on time alone, nevermind the money saved on buying a housing.

On this old piece of crap, I really dont care what it looks like, as long as it works. If it survives to a 4.0 swap I might change the housing if whatever I pick up for a donor has one, otherwise i'll probably leave it forever.

Now to get all the wiring I had to disconnect back together...
