So who has them? I haven’t been able to set anything up for years now. Used to set up my Lionel, I have an old one and a small collection of cars with a decent collection of track. So have a pile of HO stuff, think I have 5-6 engines and a tote full of cars. Couple totes of scenery and track. Really kinda want an N-scale at this point. Parents are just putting up a couple little ceramic trees for Christmas these days and it would be easy enough to put an N-scale and maybe a figure 8 track. Get some of the nostalgia going at least. Would really like to get my own house and get my stuff set back up

I have an Air Force themed Lionel set I haven’t setup in years.

I've got a collection of old O gauge Lionel stuff that hasn't been set up in years. That's one of my projects to dig out with my 7 year old sometime soon.

If I remember right, the Lionel I started with is from the 50’s. Engine, coal car, couple basic cars and the caboose. I added a few more cars since that are all newer. I have a big transformer, think it runs either 2 or 4 engines plus a couple accessories. Wouldn’t mind adding to that, but I don’t have space to set it up right now.

50's is roughly what I'd have guessed on my stuff. It was given to me around... 1990? But it clearly had significant time on it even then. And if memory serves there's a single and a quad control in the collection somewhere. I'll try to post some pictures when I get everything dug out.

My dad was into trains big time. When he died, I sold everything off except a few pieces for my brother and myself. They're on display in my "hobby room". My house is small and I normally just put a small tree on top of a table. A z scale loop would fit. Just haven't decided to spend the money on it yet. Maybe next year.

I got into trains a few years back when my wife uncovered her Lionel train set she had when she a little. It's the "O" gauge I think three rail track. I spent a few hundred bucks on track and switches and transformers. Played with it for a couple of months, boxed it all up and it is now asleep in the barn waiting for the next owner -- hopefully one of my grandkids.

I sold my n-scale set when i was 16 and bought a car. A 68 Galaxy 500 fastback in good shape. IIRC I paid $1,500. That would have been 1978.

About 7 years ago I bought a hobby shop to liquidate. I had about $10K worth of model trains and accessories.
I had a few different tracks set up, all different scales.... it was fun, but I’ve sold off most of the trains. I still have tons of track and accessories I need to get rid of.

I had a bunch of HO scale stuff from when I was akid. sold it all a few years ago, I don't have the time or space to do what I would want to do with it. If I get back into it, I would start all over with an N scale setup. it seems to have quite a bit of support with a lot of detail and options but a small enough size that I can create a large diorama

That's the issue I've got with O gauge stuff. The individual pieces are huge, so if you're trying to set up anything of reasonable scale it's going to take an entire basement. Plus the pieces are heavy and valuable, so not really the most appropriate toy for a kid. I might consider cleaning up and selling what I've got and investing in a smaller scale setup.

Growing up, we had the old American Flyer sets. I’m not sure if my dad has them anymore or not. I know they were becoming a bit of a collector’s item when I was still a teen. I loved those trains. Much better than the cheap Lionel stuff out there now.

Size wise, they were about the same as Lionel and took up a lot of room but they look awesome.

Yup, that would be O or O-27, very slight different size but the same track basically, they are completely interchangeable

Think I got mine back in the late 80’s and it had use then. In the 90’s I joined a model railroad group
