Model trains…

About 7 years ago I bought a hobby shop to liquidate. I had about $10K worth of model trains and accessories.
I had a few different tracks set up, all different scales.... it was fun, but I’ve sold off most of the trains. I still have tons of track and accessories I need to get rid of.
I might be interested… lol

My dad’s family had a big Lionel set but nobody claims to know what happened to it. Grandma claims it should still be in the attic, dad said he went up there after it years ago and all he found was a box of track that he left there. I went up after that a few years back and found nothing. Dad’s brothers and sister claim no knowledge beyond it should be in the attic.

I have a bigger model railroad set than all of you. It's actual size, and the track stretches all the way across Canada.
Do you "Drive Em" or "Couple Em" or "Fix Em" or just sit in the office & "Watch Em"?

Train sets are awesome. more fun than video games if you ask me. I was an r/c car kid for a bit, maybe just missed the train set era. But now it seems the plastic age is starting to topple over, and old things that are made of real material somewhere besides china, are increasing in value. I bet those old train sets will be worth alot of money soon. It would probably take nothing more than a viral TikTok video to start a raging used old train set market trend.

Same story, grandpa had a set in the attic. Uncle says dad has it. Dad doesn't have it. If I have been thru the attic... it ain't there.

Hard to say, I am like three miles from the transcontinental railroad...

I have thought about getting a Lego train set.

I had a large ho train set years ago when I was married to my kids mom. I've been wanting to build a new table in the front part of this building I have. I'd be interested in buying some ho scale stuff that @snoranger or others might have.

There’s a full size train on the other side of the road from the house. I can just about hit the tracks with a rock from the front porch. Unfortunately I don’t get to play with it :icon_rofl:

Old stuff has usually been kinda pricey at least around here for years. I did some looking yesterday and any old Lionel stuff (pre all plastic era) starts at about $250 and if you have more than an engine and about 3 cars they are over about $500. Don’t have a place to set it up, but I wouldn’t mind having another older Lionel or two. Even have a repair manual for Lionel trains on my shelf. It’s a book as beautiful as the trains.

I have a few sets and engines that I haven't set up since the kids were young (almost 20 yrs.) I also have the old slot cars and a track piece that allows the HO scale and slot car to cross each other.

Old family rumor was GreatGrandMa had an "inherited original copy" of Da Vinci's "Last Supper" in the attic.
Only thing of note I saw there was GreatGrandPa's stash of 100yr old "National Geographics";
you know the ones with articles about naked+bouncing native dancers.
That thieving Aunt must have stole away the "good stuff" years before!

I'm about 200 feet away.
