I'm new to this site and could use some help from some of the gurus. I just bought a 2000 Ford ranger sport v6 4.0 2wd and I'm getting a check engine light and my Speedo wasn't working either. So after grabbing a bite to eat and getting some gas and getting to the house I started pulling fuses and realized there was a fuse missing. I put a fuse in and the Speedo started working. I still have the light. I went to advanced auto and got the truck scanned and the vehicle speed sensor was the only code. I understand how the VSS functions but could the lack of a fuse cause the light? Do I have to clear the code? I'm confused.. I don't know wether to clear the code or look into replacing the VSS? I posted this in brakes because the ABS light is on also.. How can I clear the code? If I clear the codes and it pops up again. I know the VSS is the culprit. There's to many variables for me to make an accurate decision. Any help would be appreciated.
