Hey,

I was wondering if any one as myself wanted a little larger mirror than the OEM put on my '03 Edge.
I am trying not to settle for the OEM pwrd/heated (aftrmkt) mirrors (w/aftrmkt harness) but it looks like it is my only way to go.

I am looking for the following in a replacement mirror:
1) Direct Bolt on
2) Larger than stock mirror area.
3) Pwrd
4) Heated
5) New harness to retrofit the Ranger with pwr and heat
6) Directionals in face or side (I can do this one but thought since I was asking for stuff).

I understand that not all will be there but I keep hoping to find something.
Does anyone know of anything out there ?

My options to date are:
Buy OEM replacement powered mirrors, replace the glass with a heated and maybe directional glass setup.
So far no mirrors with larger viewing area and none with a harness that will upgrade my truck to fit all of my wish list options.

HELP, anyone pls...
Thanks

The 06+ stock mirrors have a larger viewing area. Not a direct bolt on for your '03 but easy enough. I have some good comparison pics if you wanted to see them, but I don't know if those mirrors meet much of your criteria....

GO '06+ MIRRORS!!!!

TONS bigger. That would be the reason why I have them on my truck. Gotta drill out the 3 mounting holes and use washers on the inside of the door in order to bolt 'em up. No biggie though. I LOOOOOOOVE mine and have no plans on putting the stockers back on.

They are tons taller and about the same width as the 98-05 'styled' mirrors.

I know of NO mirror that meets all of your criteria. Heated...no. No ranger has heated side mirrors...at least North American models dont. Signals...no. You can however mod signals in. I'm going to be using LED strips from Ozium or whatever...it'll be alot like the new 04+ F150s with signals.

Thanks for the info, '06 sounds like what I am looking for.
Now to find some pwrd/heated units, must be something out there.

Does anyone know how to get the mirrored glass out of an OEM Mirror ?

I agree. I love mine too. I'm slightly disappointed that that don't stick out a little further, but the shape makes them appear like they do. And to me, there's something about the shape that gives the truck the illusion of being a little higher. The best thing about the mirrors is they actually look like they belong on a truck. The previous mirrors were too rounded and car-like. The sharp angle of the glass took a couple days to get used to, but it's well worth it!

Well, when I had my Escort, I swiped my mirror against the mirror of a parked car and it just popped right out. Nothing actually broke. Maybe you can just pry it out, but don't quote me....

If either of you get a minute will you measure the height/width of the 2006 Mirror Area; we can do a comparison for the site.

Thanks,

hmm...

I find that it's bigger in the right areas...outside, on the bottom outside, and the top outside.

Yes...it does take some real getting used to as it's ALOT different than the stock ones. But you'll grow to love them.

I see what you are saying about fitting the truck better, Nice look !
OK so I am sold on the 2006,7,8 Mirrors now I need to find a set of powered mirrors and find replacement glass w/heat at least, maybe directionals.

Maybe these: http://www.muthco.com/products/kits/220-0309.htm

$270 PLUS the install kit price of $70?? outch. No thank you.

Great info, thanks, I will go out and measure the '03 Mirrors and see how much difference there is but the looks alone make a statement.

Fx4wannabe01, the price is high and that is only the glass part, you still need to get the bodies and, and, too much, your right.

IMO.......go OEM on your mirrors. Aftermarket housings tend to have bouncing mirror glass syndrome. I may have a set of OEM's comin' my way soon...shall I keep you in mind? no clue if power or manual though.

I've been thinking about getting a set of painted capped ones...I think they'd look pretty cool on my truck.

I've got replacement 98-05 mirror glass.....maybe i should take a pic of it in front of the 06+ mirrors..
