Military Mazda B4000 Bulls Build


i just looked at the truck and wow look at the position of center of gravity. the bed and rollcage will look realy nice. i imagine it will slop almost like the windshield and the cut bed right at the *mazda* bulge.

seems like a good deal and exactly what i need to wiring up this baby to my mazda! keep it clean and simple ;)

I will have to look

You should take my SD ECU and turn it in for core on a remaned unit. That is what I used when I swapped to MAF (a remaned unit from NAPA) But I used a different ECU as core and saved the SD one.
 
ill look into that. soo i can buy ECU right at my parts store?? i wont need to search forums and classifieds?

would it be better to get a 89 Mustang Auto ECU to match my wiring? my AOD how is it controlled by the ECU?
 
I got mine right at NAPA for like 100 bucks

As far as the AOD, not sure. I don't think it is computer controlled but I could be wrong.
 
The AOD was redesigned with electronic controls in 1991, becoming the AODE. soo yeah wiki for you ;0
 
i cant seem to find much on this AOD tranny. whats its strengths and weakness??

my AOD wotn be controlled by my ECU right?? soo does that mean i can buy a standard ECU with MAF? or does it need to be auto too??

if i dont need a tranny specific ECU would it be smart to pickup the standard ECU for more power?

and does the truck ECU have the same power as the mustangs?

The trucks are just cammed differently than the mustangs, they have a different firing order. The ecu's are pretty important mostly to match up firing order, they can be tuned to work around the cam difference. I dont know if you figure it out yet, but you can ditch that intake and use a gt-40 intake from a 5.0 exploder or merc mountaineer. A good port and polish on your heads annd intake will make a drastic improvement over any bolt on part.

A word of advice, 5.0 iron blocks work insanely well with offroad h-pipes, while the modular motors like the x-pipes alot better.

Awesome build, oh yeah, the difference between cams in the cars and trucks is the trucks are cammed for low rpms' and torque and cars are cammed for higher rpm and hp.

Your application will tell you which you need.
 
ill try it out stock and see if i like it.. the ported intake and throttle body will be the only thing ill be replacing atm. and new valve covers!

I think a small ATV will fit perfectly in the box with the tail gate down. and will make a perfect short box flat bed! maybe have my rear bumper have removable mud flaps with dump truck mud flaps.
should be interresting!
