Mike's '93 4x4

thought you were about to scrap the whole thing and buy a civic a while back, there.

oh no.... OH NO.... oh no..... that's a scary thought

does then tensioner pulley go squeek----squeek----squeek----squeek---when the engine is first started......then the squeek goes away after a few minutes of driving

That it does, it doesn't quite go away completely by it quiets down after a bit. I'm just going to save myself some worry later on and replace the whole tensioner. It's not that much more than just the pulley and it looks like it is the original one on the truck.

sounds like you're dealling with the usual little problems on a fresh truck, mike.

good to see you're taking it a little better than before.thought you were about to scrap the whole thing and buy a civic a while back, there.

Yeah, I'm getting much more accepting of all the bugs now. There were times I just wanted to junk the whole thing and have a reliable daily driver in something else. But now the payoff is starting to happen, hit up some trials, hauled around some stuff for some friends, and driven around people that compliment and like the truck. Now I'm starting to see the return on investment and I like it:icon_thumby:

Here's a picture of my truck as of 30 minutes ago, took it one of the challenges in the "Ranger Fun" thread. It's hard to see it but I got a ranger Militia sticker in the back window. Not going to take a picture of it though because the ".com" part fell of, but luckily the same friend that made me my windshield banner (that I have yet to put on:D) is going to make me a new ".com". Once she is done with that I'll put it on the truck and take a picture:icon_thumby:

truck looks good tho. but i didn't see a sticker on the back glass looking at the front of the truck :dunno:

Haha, and it's almost halfdoor/rock season down here. :D

Latest update, the F-150 intake idea has gone out the window. The plenum is too tall height wise to fit under my hood. But another viable and equally greatly priced alternative came up. One of the guys at work bought a 2007 FX4 LII that had a K&N intake on it. He's converting it back to stock and offered to give me the intake. I know the general consensus about K&N intakes on here but if I make sure to oil it right it should be a non-issue. Plus any intake is better than the broken airbox I have now.

I have been running a K&N on mine for years with no issues... I say go for it if you can get it... I think people just use too much oil and or don't let it dry good when cleaning it..

Hey Mike about your belt squeak.. Remember back mine was squeakin? I replace pullys and such with no change... Come to find out it was the brand of belt... I bought 2 Dayco belts new.. To put it simple those suck. Put a gates on and all is good!!!!! Hate to see ya waste money on something you don't need...

That's what I figured. As soon as his truck is back in town I'm getting the whole works from the throttle body forward.

I remember that, although I run Motorcraft belts on my truck. I like the Ford engineering behind it and employee price doesn't hurt:D The tensioner, idler and alternator were all definitely pooched. They made some awful noises when spun by hand. Having all of them changed made a huge noticeable change in my situation.

Only option my truck doesn't have it A/C:thefinger: I've got the original belt off the truck as a spare and put on a new Motorcraft.

Everything is working great and the truck idles so dang quietly it's scary:icon_rofl:
