Maybe this is old news but I just learned it. I've watched videos on mig welding especially flux core and just recently I viewed one and the first thing the guy said was to reverse the leads coming out of the welder. (Go inside and switch the leads around). I'm not used to using a mig but I will say that it made a big difference in how it welds. Less sparking and arcing, clearer view of weld puddle and better bead. ( I'm still working on that part)but welding sheet metal is just stitch spot welds anyway.

My new welder will run flux or solid wire... reversing leads between the two.

Yea flux core runs best on straight polarity (electrode negative). You'll also get more life out of your inner and outer tips while using flux core if you use a nozzle gel.
