Mazda :(

a trucks a truck, no getting around it, after owning one, you wont go back, unless you really dont find a need to own a truck, but kt does, she wheels and plays around, so she is gunna miss all that, expecially if we get some bad storms and she has to do a deep water crossing

I know what you mean. I too need better MPG but I just can't part with the Ranger no matter how much I try.

i use my truck to its full extent and past that, so parting with it wont happen, it fulfills all my needs and impresses me everytime i load it, but some ppl just dont need trucks, i kno after hurricane francis and jeanne i needed a truck to climb over the down trees and power poles, a civic couldnt do that

TGD, I have to comment on your decision to use an explorer axle to lower it. Why? Unless its just a first step in slamming it as low as possible. If not, I might suggest a leaf spring shackle flip as a better option, as all it will require is a few hours of your time, will improve the trucks road manners and lessen wheelhop. A flip will net you a little less than 2 inches of drop, about what you will get with spring under axles. Not to mention, you can then get longer shackles to drop it even farther. Just a thought, before you go out and spend money you dont have to

DIf you really want better MPGs. Swap your 3.0 for a 2.3, use a manual 5sp trans, run a 195/70R14 tire, and leave it stock(2wd) height.

Or buy something else meant to get MPGs, like a KIA. It's a truck, live with it.

It is a lifted 4x2 truck with 33" tires pretending to be something it isn't. Dropping it back down to stock and putting decent sized tires on it should vastly improve the milage... especially since I doubt it was regeared for 33's.

The distance between the Explorer spring pads is different than the Ranger, so it will need new perches put on it anyway, and it won't have shock mounts.

x10. Tropical Storm Fey left my road flooded out and trees down everywhere. Used the truck to drag trees, cross water crossings in the middle of the road and haul away trees as they got cut up. A civic sure as hell couldn't do any of that.

^^^ That all depends on how far they fell - if there is enough room I can drive under them . . . LOL. I am as low if not lower than a Civic - ahhh maybe not LOL
But I do agree though, when I was still living in PA, some winters you could not tell a Civic from a fire hydrant in the snow and a truck was paramount to getting around - although I did ave a Pontiac Phoenix that could push through 1.5' of freshly fallen snow on the roads :woot:

yea i lifted my truck for a reason, but also i have pulled many, too many 4x4 out of holes and trails cause they got the balls just way to big and heavy, the mud down here, a light truck is the best, most of it is bottomless, i have been stuck a few times, but not as ya'll might think, and when i get stuck, it takes a 1/2 ton truck to get me out on decent land, but when i see 4x4's get stuck, well its a tugfest

I don't support the decision b/c I have a red Mazda and I always liked the look of yours, but it does make sense for a 4x2.

:nono:

No bueno senorita'
