My credo
the grey-t escape
was googling “ford ranger bed bar attachment points” and this popped up, not sure if its true, some pictures would of been nice. I thought the “courier” name was returning, but “maverick “? weird

People are naming boys "Maverick".
Wife knows a kid with a baby and a kid at my kid's school is named Maverick Gunn. (Perfect porn star name of you ask me)

Good parts hauler.

As long as Mel Gibson isn't involved I'm ok with it...

There’s a thread about this somewhere around here... I remember posting this already.

………….Guy comes to the ford dealer for service...……….. "whats the year make and model of your vehicle sir?"...…….. "its a ford ranger maverick courier" that makes as much sense as the f-150 ranger camper special..... So what is it? a full size? mid size? camper special? WTF happened to simple names like Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce Roadster or the Lincoln Continental Mark V Landau Four Door Hardtop. That's much easier to say than courier..... I can't even spell courier without auto correct....

K.I.S.S. dammit!

Perhaps Tempo, or Ganada?

If it's car-based, Ranchero might even be appropriate!

Why not sexy love machine... or pickle wagon...

Pickle shack.

Ranger and Explorer were both F series trim levels at one time, I think the first Ranger was an Edsel model in 1958. I think Ford should consider using Galaxie, Torino, and Maverick again. I hated it when we had Bronco and Bronco II, LTD and LTD II all sold side by side and sharing nothing but their name. When the Ranger based Bronco II was released a Bronco was an F150 based SUV. The 77 LTD II rode on the chassis of the 76 Torino it replaced and a 77 LTD was still a full size. Calling the 74-78 models Mustang II's made no sense, they were the only Mustangs we had. Ford has a problem with names, they replaced the Taurus- a best seller for years- with the Five Hundred and sales died until they renamed the same basic car the Taurus. They labelled a Mazda derivative as the Probe, which sounds like a colonoscopy tool. I guess that one fit, the car sucked, too.

I think the Probe was intended to replace the Mustang, but they decided to make both - I don’t know if it was supposed to use the Mustang name or not. Dad had a ‘91 (I think) Probe with the 3.0 and a 5spd. It was a damned nice car, handled well and the 3.0 was really nice.

The 3.0 you liked came from the Taurus and was used in Rangers. The turbo four in the early GT's was dangerous due to unequal length front axles causing extreme torque steer. The later Probe GT's used the Mazda 2.5 v6 which had a timing belt while the Contour used way better a 2.5 v6 with a timing chain. No one who ever worked on a Probe would call it "a damned nice car". In the late 80's Red Poling, Ford's CEO at the time, was planning to rename the Probe as the Mustang until the car magazines got wind of it. A spontaneous letter writing campaign buried Ford in angry letters.

I know where the engine came from. I never worked on it, as it was actually very reliable. It was a damned nice car to drive, in part because of the engine & 5spd combination. It handled well and looked good for the time - his was white with a red interior and alloy wheels.

I always liked the Probe. They said it was a girl's car, but I always liked girls too, so that makes sense. And it was to replace the Mustang. But then instead, they designed the Mustang by women for women.

The probe was indeed a mustang potential.
