I'm trying to put together all the pieces to swap an Isuzu 4BT diesel into my Ranger. I've been over to the 4BD swaps forums, and there is a guy there that can mate a Dodge NV4500 5spd tranny to the bellhousing of the isuzu motors. The only problem is, the only 5spds at my local junkyards are 2wd! I cannot find a dodge truck that is 5spd and 4wd! (Doesn't matter the size either, 1500 - 3500 all used the same 5spds). Anyways, how hard is it to mate a transfer case from a 4x4 automatic to a 2wd 5spd? I'm hoping it's as simple as removing the tail section and bolting the tranfer case in place, but probably not. Any help would be great. Oh, and Btw, I'd prefer not to use a divorced transfer case, as I'd like to use as many stock components as possible (no matter the brand, as long as I can go to a dealer and say I need this part, and they have it). So yea...

You need to change the output shaft and tail housing thats about it. Divorced cases were offered in factory form way back when so you can still find parts. You're best off calling advance adapter for this one. You will be stuck using a dodge t-case with the 4500, not that its bad but fitment could be a problem. If i recall correctly Crazy Horse on TRUCKS used the 4500 but he also used an Atlas. You will need a swap kit of some sort to use a different case and they would possibly include the housing and shaft, if not you still will need them.

Yeah, I planned on using the Dodge T-case. Do you think the output shaft is the same from auto to stick? If so, I can pull the T-case and shaft out of an automatic truck, and just pull the tranny out of another truck and mate them together.
