For those of you that have already done this before,
I installed a set of AVM/Mountain Ridge hubs to rid my self of the crappy OE PVH set-up, when I was reading on this forum I remember somebody talking about disconnecting the vacuum from the solenoid under the air filter housing.
I also remember they said that line also provided vacuum for the heating-system control, so I installed the hubs, removed theair filter housing, only to find the solenoid is actually located WAAAAYYY under the filter housing, almost under the headlights..
So i trace vac. lines back and find a large line coming towards the solenoid assembly, then it tee's-off into 2-smaller lines, one runs forward towards the solenoid , and the other runs back towards the heater core and disappears somewhere,
Am I correct to assume that if I just find a connector to hook the large line to the small line heading towards the heater, that this will still provide vac. for the controls, ??
THEN what do you guys do with the solenoid ? just leave it there ? or rip-out all the extra lines, tape off the electrical connections and remove the solenoid ??
I plan on being this trucks last owner, so Im not worried about resale, just want to make sure I dont lock in my hubs, and create a major vac. leak when I switch the knob in the cab to engage the transfer case,(which I assume sends a signal to that solenoid to provide vacuum to the hubs)
Sorry if this has already been covered, but I could not find anything in the tech-info library ......
