so i sourced a dana 35 from the junkyard from a 1994 explorer with auto hubs. i go to put the manual locknut kit on and neither side has a snap ring or washer or the axle shaft....the auto hubs were intact at the junkyard. Were these years not designed with the snapring on the axleshaft or should i be making a trip back to get that washer and ring?

i have the two 4wd nuts and the spacer btwn them but no snap ring or the spacer right behind the snap ring....neither side has it and like i said it doesnt appear to have been touched but maybe someone needed those parts. I can always make a trip to the junkyard to grab some

i was just curious if maybe the dana 35 was different and did not need or have those parts

Yep. The spacer (a.k.a. splined washer) and clip prevents the axle shaft from walking inward and disengaging from the hub (not to mention keeps the assembly sealed at the rear of the spindle).

These parts are the same manual or auto hubs, so grab 'em off whatever you find.
