I have a 2004 4.0L V6 SOHC and i want replace the manifolds with dual manifolds and have a true dual exhaust, which means i need 2 catalytic conerters for each, but they have sensors on them and i know BY LAW the Catalytic Converts have to stay on. I was told if i did that it would mess up some sensor or back pressure or something along those lines. Is there something that can reprogram those sensors to operate with one going into another one, my stock is 2(left and right) Catalytic Converts going into 1 then goes to the muffler. Can i just split it with no worries about sensors or pressure, with each having its own 1 going into the other Catalytic Convert then to each of it's own Mufflers without Computer issues? Is there a certain length the 2 Catalytic Converts have to be apart or anything? If there is no problem with this can i just lengthen those sensor wires to fit as i need them? I was also told it would lessen my gas mileage by about 4 MPG & it would mess up my emissions, but i know Ohio LAW only requires that you just have the Required Catalytic Converts, no emissions requirement to my knowledge and i have lived in Ohio for 14 years and never had to get emission test done just have Catalytic Converts, correct me if i am wrong.

CAN SOME ONE PLEASE SHED SOME LIGHT ON THIS!?!? THE WAY IT WAS EXPLAINED TO ME WAS SIMPLE, BUT AFTER TALKING TO SOMEONE ELSE THEY MAKE IT SOUND LIKE I CAN'T DO ANY OF IT!!!

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why exactly would you want to put true duals on this thing instead of the crossover/y pipe that is much more efficient?

You have 2 resonators, then the catalytic converter, then muffler.

Your truck has 2 upstream O2 sensors as well as 1 after the catalytic converter (catalyst efficiency monitor) to me its a whole bunch of hassle to gain nothing. Might even cause more harm, kill mileage, etc. Let alone sounds horrible.

If you can aquire the Cat engine pipe setup for a 1997-01 Explorer with
a 4.0SOHC and fab up a dual muffler-tailpipe setup...

the setup for the early SOHC explorers was "True duals" back as far as the muffler
and used a single tailpipe behind the muffler.
