Anyone done this? I'm building a '87 Ranger "rock crawler" and want to make the doors removeable like a Jeep Wrangler...Think I have a basic idea of how to do it but just wondering if anyone has any specific details...has manual windows and locks so wiring isn't much of an issue...have the domelight thought out already...just wondering if some "L" shaped "pins could be made to work and some sleeves on the door for them to slide down into? Going to fab some mirror brackets that will go into the windshield frame (another Jeep copied idea)...Any ideas/info greatly appreciated! Thanks guys!

i had the exact same idea. but haven't tackled that project yet. i was going to try the pins like jeeps as well. let us know how it works out for ya!

serch the archives i was looking at doing it a while ago and found a bunch of good threads on trs. Some good pics too. Good luck

Sounds good guys...I'm gonna tear into it real soon...I think one way or another it can be done...I also have an extra set of doors that I'm thinking about turning into "half doors"...I'll get my camera out there when I'm doing this and will keep posting up here on progress (if there is any:)...

ya i have three sets of doors, one full size for winter, one half door set made with skins, and one outa tube!

I just cut the factory pins out of the hinges, and replaced with a pin/clip. I can swap the doors on/off in 10-15mins by myself.

I've been running the pins for over 2 years now. The doors may be getting a tad loose but not enough to knock the door out of alignment. Just makes it easier to get the pins in and out :D.

Those are awesome! Kinda what I had in my head as far as the mechanics of the deal...Thanks man!

Just tryin' to figure out how you did the latch assembly...looks basic but can't see what actually makes it "click" and stay shut and how how to open it...Awesome bending job!

The latch is stupid simple, just a fence latch. I pinched it a little to take some of the slop out of of it, welded it to the 3/16" tab, then welded the tab to the door.

All the bending was done with a Harbor Freight tube kinker :D. Can't wait to get a real bender.
