Make it Louder

Hey guys, I just put a new flowmaster 40 delta flow on my 3.0L, it sounds good but I just want to make it a litle louder that it is. I replaced the stock
2" piping from the muffler back with new 2" piping, and I was thinking if I replaced some of that with 2.5" it might work. Also would moving the muffler closer to the cat make it louder.

Thanks

Wouldn't less pipe after muffler make more sense? Like a side exiting exhaust... I'm just saying. Closer to cat... That just makes it closer to cat.... Less pipe... Get headers if your really wanting more loudness. And how about a REAL engine? You sound like a ricer in a ranger. Honda's do that, not rangers. Just saying.

If i wanted a dumped exhaust I wouldve done it, and I wanted feedback or suggestions not criticism. And does it matter which engine I have?

A turn down would work as well to make it a bit louder sounding while driving

Bigger pipe usually just makes it deeper, not louder. Swapping the 2 factory cats with a single aftermarket will be louder. Also going with a side exit will be a bit louder, I don't recommended a dumped exhaust though, not that you want one anyways.

I'm just being an asshole, that's all. Lol. I have to make up for my lack of knowledge somehow...

i know i have a 4.0 but i took my muffler right off and just put 2" pipe in place of it. the thing sounds like an animal. when i step on it, it sounds like a have a small block v8 in it

:icon_rofl:

I run a magnaflow muffler which gives it a smooth performance note but no muffler or loud mufflers on V6s do NOT sound like V8s! It just sounds like really obnoxious buzzing V6...

Thanks for the help. How much of the tubing will I need to replace with 2.5" to make it deeper?

all of it.. do the job right.

if you want louder, delete the muffler... or gut the muffler. or just do all pipe, no cats no muffler... of course that IS ILLEGAL.. so keeping the cats are good.

just don't be tempted to change mufflers, most other mufflers make the 3.0 almost sound ricey... lol

cat back delete kit! =D when i ripped my muffler off on my 3.0 it was almost stupid loud. i couldnt sneak up to my GF's house anymore cuz she would hear me a block and a half away lol

the 3.0 and 4.0 and just about any V6 engines just have a different sound. I deleted my cat and dropped 2.5" pipe with a flowmaster and kicked it out the side (oh and BTW my truck is a 2.3L) and it sounds good and deep.....ive actually had people ask me if i did a 5.0 swap LOL

with no muffler i have also had people ask if there was a 5.0 under the hood. if i ever decide to put a muffler back on its gonna be a thrush welded. 50 bucks. i put my dads on when i ripped my old muffler off just to see what it sounded like. it was still loud but took that little bit of snarl away.
