hey guys i am trying to get a 5 speed that will hold up behind my mildly built 302, i had a t5 but it was from a 4 cyc and it was to short. and since i wanted to have a 4x4 i wanted a 4x4 transmission. i was wondering if a m5r2 will hold up? or where can i find an adapter for a t5 to make it bolt up to a np205.

thanks
jon

The M5OD-R2 will hold up, that's what it was made for.

I was impressed with the M5OD-R2 in my ol man's toy. Its a supercharged 5.8L F-150 with 35 inch tires. Holding up beautifully after 2.5 years. Its not going to shift into the next gear as fast as say the T-5 though.

what are the gear ratios compared to the t5, is it more set up for pulling, aka not that fast acceleration?

Did you swap that M5OD-R2 onto that 5.8? because the factory for some reason never used the R2 behind the 5.8....

The 5.8 F-series trucks always got the M5HD (ZF) tranmission.

The R2 was only used behind the V6 the 4.9 and the 5.0.

BTW, the "M5R2" is an entitrely different transmission used ONLY
in the 1989-95 Thunderbird SuperCoupes

Ya, originally it was a 300 I6 truck. That engine developed a terrible knock around 180K. Out came the 6 and in went the 5.8L along with a rebuilt M5OD-R2. Then, he found a used supercharger kit for it a year later.

yea sorry i meant the m5od r2, what years was it used in 4x4 f150? and what kind of gear ratios did it have?
