M5OD tail shaft cross compatibility

By speed sensor I mean the speedo cable thing basically like you have. My '97 just uses the two wire sensor that is on the end of a speedo cable but has no cable so I know for a fact that you can go through '97...

ok wait i think im confusing things here. do you mean that yours has the PCM speed sensor built-in to where the speedo cable connects to the trans? Yea, mine is setup like that. If I'm interpreting what you are saying correctly, you are telling me a trans up to 97 model year will work without swapping the tail housing, a direct drop-in?

Yes, that... everything with RABS has a sensor on the transmission end of the speedo cable, on '95-97 they just got rid of the cable but kept the sensor and used that for the speedo so it has the speedo gear and everything exactly like you need, so look for '88-97 from a 4 cylinder to be bolt in.

There's other little issues like in around '95 they changed the shifter and turned the pinch bolt 90 degrees so if you go to a junkyard grab the shifter if newer... There's a few changes in the early years too like the synchro's on 5/R but I think that's a '90 model year change.

Quick run down to Brighton TN and a couple hours time could get you a complete 1992 M5OD -and- driveshaft, regular cab longbed 2wd donor… I’d even throw in anything else you need off it… No charge… Nada, zip, zero zilch

That is an incredibly generous offer, but even if I were close enough I'd still insist on paying for it. As right now, I can't pull a transmission anyway... my shoulder is a wreck and I can't lift my right arm at the shoulder so I'd have to pay someone for that heavy stuff. I think they had one here at pull-a-part for 150 bucks, but I can't get it out of the truck since it's a DIY only yard. Right now I'm trying to tear down the engine on my Dodge to get the heads off of it and it's a real struggle and slow going in this condition. I've talked the neighbor into coming over and lifting them off whenever I get down to all the bolts out and ready to lift. I can still pick stuff up as long as I let that arm hang but that isn't much good. I'm afraid I'm gonna have to have surgery on the damned thing and it sucks because i'm right-handed and can't lift my #$%#$# arm up.

Know the feeling all too well…
1. Broke both legs and put a clutch lever through my chin, 100mph motorcycle crash.
2. Tore right rotator cuff in 1989, never fixed.
3. Broke the ball off my left shoulder, another motorcycle crash, 2008, armor plated.
4. Right knee torn (can’t spell it), left knee bone on bone.
5. L4/L5 and L5/S1 2003/2004, disc and bone chunks removed.
6. Heart attack, active duty, 1995 and again in 2023.
7. Kidney cancer, 2021.

I’m deathly allergic to: opiates, opioids, CBD and related, naproxen and ibuprofen. 85% disability rating since 2005. I’m a corrections officer…

And you would not pay anything. Truck is a total loss, brother in law centerpunched a saw log into the driver side headlight at 35mph. Frame and firewall are fubar.
