well i bought a whole 92 5L n 5spd 4x4 for my 92 ranger swapped it all in an now im getting to the clutch part n started reading that this is a big problem. The ranger master cylinder wont work n the f150 wont fit? so whats the solution to this without switching to another transmission?

The Ranger mastercylinder will work. I don't know where you got the idea it wouldn't.

I'm pretty sure it's even the same part number.

The slaves are the same pn but the masters are not. If i had both masters here i'd pull them and see what the difference is but i dont. That aside since the slaves are the same you shouldn't have any issues.

You can get Ranger masters with 5/8" bore, 7/8" bore, maybe others.
It will work.
Have fun bleeding it, though.

I'd get one with a 7/8's bore, over fill the reservoir, crack the bleeder wide open, and then just keep filling it out of the pint until you hear fluid running all over the ground.

Larger bore is going to help with the longer fingers of the 5.0 pressure plate.

M5OD R2 sounds like it has 2 reverse gears. I know it doesn't, but sounds like it could, lol. Or does it???:dunno:

ok well i guess im just a retard ive been told that the ranger master cylinder will not work with the full size 5spd an ive read abit that they wont work, my stock ranger master will not click into the fullsize tranny slave cylinder to

Hmm, must be a metric thing. They seem to work fine in the states.

ya im not sure i have a buddy that did the 5L swap n 5spd he his stock master wouldnt work n said that he was told to make a fullsize f150 master work.

Nobody's going to argue that fact. :thefinger:

Its not that the Ranger master and f150 slave wont work together, its that the fitting on the clutch line wont plug into the slave, correct?

Around '93 Ford changed to a different size quick disconnect. Sounds like you have one of each size. I dont know what year they used which size, but someone else will know. (AllanD, you out there?)

I am watching this, someday I hope to M5OD mine for OD. Keep us posted with what you find. :icon_thumby:

Probably have to shoot him a PM, he doesn't frequent the V8 swap forum very often.

Do you have pics of the offending parts?

This is exactly what i'm running into on my 87. A stock ranger master cylinder does not move enough fluid to make the r2 disengage the clutch. I researched it before i started school this year and a f150 master is 7/8 inch, where a ranger is 3/4 inch. Do not believe what the parts stores tell you because some do list a 7/8 bore ranger master, but they do not measure 7/8 when you get them. The best i have gotten mine to work is a lot of slipping and creeping at a stop, but you must start the truck in gear, and match the rpm so you can shift kinda like not using the clutch. When i get out of school here in 2 weeks i may try and adapt Willwood universal master with a 7/8 bore, but throwing in the c6 looks so much easier at this point. I'll let you know what i find.

I have one.

For whatever reason, the Ford stuff is a pain to bleed.

Some companies make fancy angled firewall adapters (designed for '65-'70 Mustangs) that could work.
Or find any larger master cylinder with a remote reservoir, so you can angle it without issue.
I modded my '95+ pedal bracket to fit the older, larger bore master cylinder easily. (new clips in, old bolts to fire wall)
