ok well i guess im just a retard ive been told that the ranger master cylinder will not work with the full size 5spd an ive read abit that they wont work, my stock ranger master will not click into the fullsize tranny slave cylinder to
What COLOR is the coupler on the end of the clutch line that you are trying to connect to the slave cylinder?
And what color is the coupler on the slave cylinder you are using?
There are TWO different RANGER mastrer cylinders, the 1983-92 Clutch master works with all, clutch slave cylinders that have the Black (fades to purple) or Red coupler. (this is the ALUMINUM slave cylinder)
IF the slave cylinder you have is the glass reinforced nylon plastic (Dupont trade name "Delrin") it will have a Gold/Yellow color and these require the matching master cylinder.
The Master you probably need was only used in Rangers and
Explorers 1993-94, and does not mount directly to the firewall,
it mounts via a metal mounting cup that it twist locks into.
the early master cylinder has an integral mounting flange made out of the same glass reinforced plastic the rest of the master is made out of.
While you can swap the lines this can cause problems, the early big bore
master cylinder used with the late "plastic" slave gives you a heavy pedal and quick clutch activation, but actually pushing the pedal to the floor can stress the firewall to the breaking point.
Doing the mismatch the other way results in a clutch that often cannot be bled properly and is hard to completely release.
as a side note the 1995-up uses a completely different master cylinder that doesn't mount to the firewall at all but directly to an ear on the pedal bracket.
