M5OD R2 trans swap clutch line problem

ok well i guess im just a retard ive been told that the ranger master cylinder will not work with the full size 5spd an ive read abit that they wont work, my stock ranger master will not click into the fullsize tranny slave cylinder to

What COLOR is the coupler on the end of the clutch line that you are trying to connect to the slave cylinder?

And what color is the coupler on the slave cylinder you are using?

There are TWO different RANGER mastrer cylinders, the 1983-92 Clutch master works with all, clutch slave cylinders that have the Black (fades to purple) or Red coupler. (this is the ALUMINUM slave cylinder)

IF the slave cylinder you have is the glass reinforced nylon plastic (Dupont trade name "Delrin") it will have a Gold/Yellow color and these require the matching master cylinder.
The Master you probably need was only used in Rangers and
Explorers 1993-94, and does not mount directly to the firewall,
it mounts via a metal mounting cup that it twist locks into.

the early master cylinder has an integral mounting flange made out of the same glass reinforced plastic the rest of the master is made out of.

While you can swap the lines this can cause problems, the early big bore
master cylinder used with the late "plastic" slave gives you a heavy pedal and quick clutch activation, but actually pushing the pedal to the floor can stress the firewall to the breaking point.

Doing the mismatch the other way results in a clutch that often cannot be bled properly and is hard to completely release.

as a side note the 1995-up uses a completely different master cylinder that doesn't mount to the firewall at all but directly to an ear on the pedal bracket.

I know this thread is old, but i am trying to find out what clutch line to use. I am doing a 302 swap in an 85 B2, i am using an M5OD-R2 from an 02 v6 f150 and a master cylinder from an 89 ranger. So what year ranger or F150 clutch line do i want to use for no complications?

My 1994 explorer has a master cylinder that mounts directly to the firewall and it has two bolts that secure it to the firewall. So am i missing something, or is my 94 not really a 94 and someone has illegally swapped the vin plates?

AllanD is wrong (which doesnt happen often.). The 93-94 Explorer uses a bolt on clutch master... it is a little different from, and not interchangeable with, the 91-92 Ex, but they look similar.

I used my 92 ranger master and an 89 trans. i think the R2 trans slave is the goldish color coupling. and the ranger is blue. i think or viseversa. i used the ranger master and spliced on the R2 coupling. but after i did that i realised i could have just punched the little pin out on both masters and put the R2 trans on the ranger master. for bleeding i gravity bled it by hanging the master resivor up and getting the hose as straight as possible, fill the resevoir with fluid and after it quits bubbling pump it up until you can barely push the rod. install it back in the truck and hook it all up then open the bleeder valve on the slave untill fluid runs out. run about one and a half resivoir fulls through it then it should be good to go. Sorry if it seems like alot.

I just completed a swap that included an R1->R2. I used the R2 clutch slave cyl and clutch line with my orig MC. Bled easily, like brakes, and operates fine. A little stiff, considering it's pressing a V8 Pressure plate, but no sticking or hanging. Trans goes into first and reverse like normal. So I don't think there should be an issue unless there is a prob with the Slave or bleeding process.

AllanD is correct. It looks like a bolt on, but the "flange" is removable. Leaving a twist in style master.
