especially one in that condition. there is not going to be very many cars that will be considered a "classic" Maverick maybe one. i would include the amc matador, the gran torino, some of the early 70s chrysler cars, and the late 70s trans am

I remember when I was a kid--the guy with the "six in a row doesn't go" '73 Maverick with a 6-banger was not considered lucky. The guy with the 350 4v in the Impala station wagon was considered much more lucky. The guy with the 6.6 TA or the new 5.0 GT convertable or the was considered among the luckiest.

Put in a 347 with good heads, an upgraded C4, and a narrowed 9"/t-lok with good gears and it'll be a stomper, one that doesn't have to be checked for emissions in most places.

It's a light car that doesn't look too bad (2 door)

When I was in school if you had a supercharged 454 in your station wagon you would probably still get made fun of the worst, because after all it is a station wagon.:taunt:

But even way back in the early 00's (when I was in school) a nice 6.6 TA or 5.0 would be up there with a new Mustang GT for coolness.

Mavericks are a neat car, but if I got one I would want one with a 302. But a nice surviver 6 would be fun to have, do you have any pictures of it?

not yet i am getting them as soon as we bring it home, up in Pennsylvania they have alot of gay stuff you have to go through to change the title and bring the car to maryland, so it might be another week or so. the guy we are buying it from is only the second owner too, and it is a beaut!!!! the engine has NOOO leaks
i mean i know that a 250 I6 isnt the best engine in the world but if you fix it up a little it will run nice, this one has about 145 hp which is equal to my 3.0. we arent using it for racing or anything just a nice weekend car and stuff. oh yeah and all the chrome on it is still flawless

Sometimes you guys really make me feel old. When I was a kid there was no such thing as a 5.0 ford. Sure there was a 302 but, they weren't called a 5.0 until later.
Today the Maverick is cool but, back then it was no more cool than a Pinto.
I would consider him Lucky.

haha my dad used to have one and he put a hooker header on it and raceing stripes and some really loud exhaust, now a days he would be called a ricer haha that thing had a whopping 2000 cc engine, i think thats the equivelant to about a 2.2 maybe i dont know tho

We know you are fantastically old, but I believe they started putting the 5.0 badges on in 1982.

My grandpa loved Pintos. he had a whole yard full of them and all of his girls (my grandparents adopted my cousins) had a Pinto from the stable. He even loaned my mom one for a year when we needed a car. It was a sweet metallic green wagon with an auto and maybe a V6, if they had that option.

i wish i could find one for sale around here.... a pinto would be my pick for a daily driver to get good gas mileage.
