Hi everyone! I'm wondering, if anyone has ever done an Asian engine swapped into their ranger truck, or seen someone done something similar. I have checked the configuration of both Ford's 302 5.0l engine and ls400 1uz engine. They are all 90°. Does this means that the 1uz engine would also be an easy swap like the 302?
I am considering getting a whole ls400 vehicle, to swap everything in my ranger 3.0l 1995 model.
Any advice would be helpful here pls.

Is it an overhead cam, and a 4-valve per cylinder? Most if not all modern Toyota engines are. If so it may be a lot wider than the 302.

A Lexus is just a conceited Toyota and I'll bet 302's are pretty rare in Nigeria. Do you have the dimensions on the Lexus engine? If it's OHC it's apt to be a lot wider than a 302.

DOHC, it will probably be pretty tight. I have never heard of anyone doing this swap.

It doesn't LOOK as wide as a Ford DOHC V8 so you do have that going for you... but it does look pretty tall.

I've seen quite a few of these swapped into smaller cars on YouTube, they're apparently a tough engine that can handle a fair amount of boost

I've been tossing around swapping my 2.9 for the 3.0 VG30E found various nissans. Its a strong 60° v6 and can fairly easily be modified. Not a giant aftermarket for it. But its a solid junkyard upgrade engine.

A little research on the Toyota sites suggests the engine fits in a box of 700 x 700 x 700 mm or about a 27.5" cube

A 302 is about that long, but (depending on intake) about 21" wide and 24" tall.

Have you considered converting to electric? The development and technology, and affordability has come a long way.

Thats even worse then using a bonsai engine.

Any updates on your proposed swap with the VG? Aren't they some of the engines in Nissan Pathfinder a, and Nissan pickup frontier?

Yes, I'm in the process of buying a couple cars with them in them. And yes thats the SOHC version found in 80s 300zx, hardbody pickups, pathfinders and either maximas or altimas. Some were NA, some supercharged and some turbocharged. Most were 3.0L, pathfinders are 3.3L. Fairly easy to make good power with stock bottom end.

I was thinking about doing a k series like a k20 turbo or a 1uz in my ranger also there is a YouTube that goes by the name NIGHTRIDE they are doing a 1uz swap in a Miata so I’m sure that it’ll fit in a ranger;missingteeth;

1uz sound so good with some ITBs

Just to satisfy my curiosity - why a VG over a VQ series engine?

Its just what I'm used to and know. Ive had many VG powered vehicles. The VQ isnt bad either from what I know. Its just unfamiliar territory.
