Low/No Lift and Big Tires on a BII

I rocked 32x11.50 SX's for a while with explorer springs and trimmed front fenders. Pretty low and stable.

Did you guys see fender cutting 101 in the body work section of the tech library? He did a real good job fits 33" tire on still nice and low, low buck and it looks good and you don't have to wear a bag on your head to drive it in front of your friends. One of the things I try to remember is they don't make cars like this anymore because they roll to easy stock. If you park yours next to a stock one even low lift with big tires they get taller fast.

ya i agree looks good. i have a set of those rims on my s10 right now. the s10 is up for sale but i dont really wanna sell em. i have the stock rims right now for the s10 that i could put on but if the rims (like on your rig) fit on the ranger, i will use the rubber too, but i dont have money to get rubber swapped over right now. then i'd have an extra set of ranger rims laying around which is no big deal.. will those rims fit a 1993 ranger XLT??

54" tires and no lift, IIRC on that monster. IMHO, it's taking it a little to the extreme.

I've thought about this sort of thing before. I built my choptop and lifted it. I enjoy it as a toy, but don't think I'd really want to hardcore off-road it. It has proved to be more stable than I had originally feared, however. I did try running 31x10.50s on it at one point and it felt horribly dangerous, but the 33x12.50s hold it pretty stable.

I have been planning a build for awhile though of a trail-only rig (although I might consider trying to make it road legal). BII frame, Ranger cab, either a D-30 straight front or an EB D-44 and 8.8 rear, 35-36" tires. Front fenders will be trimmed as required and it'll probably have an equivalent of a 2-3" suspension lift. If I have to I'll hockey puck the body mounts (one puck per mount). The idea is to keep it fairly low with a bigger tire. Of course, once I get building it, it's always possible I could end up putting 38" or larger tires and trim to fit. Not going to go larger than a 4.0L in it though (right now I have a 2.3L set aside for it) to keep it light weight.

We run those tires on a grinder mixer we have on the farm.... not cheap, I bet they never got them balanced either. (may have used balancing powder)

or BB's, I heard of some guys using golf balls in really big tires

get some EB warflares and stick some 33's or 35's under there! I love the way those look on B2's
