Low MPG

Well it may be a moot point. I was taking it to the store when I noticed I had zero oil pressure. It was running fine and not making any noise so I babied it home. I had replaced the sender a few weeks ago so I am pretty sure that is not the problem.
After doing some research I am going to check the mech pressure first and if that does not pan out then I will pull the engine and start with the cheap stuff. This engine has 200K plus miles on it so it may just be due for a refresh.

New dosent mean good

More than likely it's the sender, if it had no oil pressure you would be hearing some bad sounds.

I hope you guys are right and it is the sender. I replaced it a few weeks ago when I replaced the intake and a couple of sensors. I can't recall ever looking at it to make sure it was working.
I'll try that first.

Woo Hoo!!
Put a mechanical gauge on it and it shot right up to 60 PSI!
One less thing to worry about.

Hey what kind of mileage should I be expecting on my 85 Ranger? I have the 2.3 FI, 5 sp, 2wd, long bed with stock tires / no lift and am only getting 22 combined. This is a high mileage engine that starts and runs pretty good. I've already changed out most of the sensors. I guess the next thing is to replace the cat and oxygen sensor.
Is 22 mpg good for this combo or should I be able to do better?

CEL came on and a code check showed bad DPFE sensor but then I noticed my gas milage went up so I decided to let the computer continue to run open loop for awile. You wouldn't believe the gas milage if I told you.:D

and how did you switch it between open and closed loop?
