Hey what kind of mileage should I be expecting on my 85 Ranger? I have the 2.3 FI, 5 sp, 2wd, long bed with stock tires / no lift and am only getting 22 combined. This is a high mileage engine that starts and runs pretty good. I've already changed out most of the sensors. I guess the next thing is to replace the cat and oxygen sensor.
Is 22 mpg good for this combo or should I be able to do better?

22mpg is really good, I wish my truck was in the high teens let alone break above 20. Be happy with what you are getting and keep doing whatever you have been doing.

For a high mileage 2.3 that don't sound bad

That's good

try a shorty header it bumped mine 2 + r - mpg and is WAY lighter!:icon_thumby:

I have a '97 2.3 2wd, gets 16mpg on a good day....still working on it though..

i get about 15mpg all day in my truck

I've been getting pretty good mileage out of mine when I'm on earth. Outside the atmosphere it kinda sucks due to less oxygen, but I think I've found a fix for that...let me know if you want the plans for my O-Injector Nexus Konta System (OINKS)...it will make your vehicle less of a pig on gas...

you feeling alright there DG?

Funny you should mention that...because if it weren't for the fact that I don't post with a Louisiana accent I'd swear we were two different people...but I don't swear foo tucking uchmay...

22 sounds a bit low to me, I'm getting 24-25 in my 96. However, 22 is excellent for a V6, lol.
