So on our wonderful Pennsylvania roads I get alot of wheel hop. I have slappers but they dont fit at all. Need some upgrade ideas for my suspension retaining the new springs I put in.

What about adding 2 more shocks?

Well springs are rated for the weight they carry
If they are too "bouncy" then they are either worn out or under rated for the weight on that axle

But you have to be careful if you go to higher rated springs, the weight on the spring allows it to do its job of compressing when you hit a bump, if you use too high a rating then you might as well weld steel bars between frame and axles, lol
Because you will feel every bump because there is not enough weight to compress the spring

Yes, you can double up on shocks but you need to use matched shocks, so 4 shocks of the same brand/model on one axle
Shocks are there to slow compression and slow rebound, they don't support any weight

What springs did you put in?

We don't live that far apart and I have no issues with excessive bounce.

Also, what shocks are you using? I have Monroe OESpectrums on the front of my truck, the Monroe helper coil units in the rear.
 
I have new springs from rock auto I forget the spring rate. I have monroe oe shocks but my axle is mounted over the spring explorer style.


I just checked ra they are 1100lbers
 
double shock could help. or just an hd....are your shocks wiped out from being too long? might need a shorter shock so it works in the right range
 
I'm so impressed with how the traction bar worked on the '90 Ranger I made HERE that I think my '97 might need one, and the F350 definitely needs one...
 
They might be. I was gonna order a certain type my friend said to get but I forgot what they are and I blew my load on a transmission.....

I know... I know... I just wanna cut out some of the hop while semi aggressive acceleration. especially when I'm on a poorly maintained road.

Those are the lighter springs. My axle is also on top of the springs, I'd suggest jacking it up and so the rear end hangs down and measuring the length of the shock at that point. Then jack it under the axle, disconnect one shock bolt and compress the shock to (1) make sure you have some travel left and the shock isn't bottoming out and (2) to measure the compressed length of the shock. That way you can be sure stock Ranger shocks will work for you. I used Gabriel Max control shocks on the front of my 93, hoping they'd be stiff enough to dampen the weight of the 351. They did, they are the stiffest shocks I've ever put on anything.
 
I didn't think they had a ranger spring rated to high to support a v8 any how.i always thought highest rating the better for this swap.im assuming that's not the case.i just put in 80s 2.8 v6 springs on mine
I help they LL do the trick
 
It may be time for shocks they were cheap ones and they got the living shit beat out of them with the old leaf springs.
