Lost a wheel/Hub. Where to go from here?

I read here that the explorer shock mount had to be cut and rewelded to the opposite side or the diff.
Not a concern at the moment though. First things first.

Rear axle only.

OK, well, I do believe that my spindle is screwed. Something dug into it all the way around. I had a hell of a time getting the outer c clip off. I had to file the axle "Gears" down to slide the washers off. Had to grind on the spindle, where it was chewed up to get the inner bearing off. The outer bearing was just gone. I assume that the shrapnel from the outer bearing was what was eating into the spindle, but not 100%. Now Im having a difficult time getting the spindle off. Not sure what Im doing wrong here. I pulled the nuts off the bolts and hit it with a rubber mallet but its not budging.

well....

its fawked up from running it loose so long. the inners were spinning on the spindle, and when loose and flopping, which was the reason for the brake woes because the caliper had to fight the bind...the stub axle thrust washers were peening the end of the spindle....they looked intact in the original picture....

but, bearing mount and dimpling may get the spindle by....and good picture of it?

The spindle is rust-welded to the knuckle. With a 2x4 between the spindle and hammer, beat on it going around the circumference. Once it starts to come loose, you can carefully use a prybar to help it along making sure not ti dent the surfaces. Beat on the endgrain of the 2x4.

Yup, looks like the outer bearing let go. The spindle is a little dinked up, but if it was mine I think I'd try it with just new bearings and races.

Here is an exploded [ kinda ironic, eh ] view of the d28;

http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/pdf_documents/Dana_Ford_28.pdf

Your 2nd pic is of the caliper piston all chewed up, replace the caliper.
The 3rd pic is of the spindle, may be salvalgeable, but IMO replace it.
4th, rotor?, replace it.
last pic, bearing race, momento.
Junkyard; grab everything from spindle out including caliper. Maybe cheaper to buy the axle.

Either of ya see the first pic? The teeth on the axle are gouged into. Doubtful it would be a good idea to try to reuse that as well?
Floored, the 4th pic is of the inside of the spindle. The rotor looked fine, but Ill more than likely replace that as well.
So....I need the following...
Spindle, axle, rotor, axle seal, spindle grease seal, inner/outer bearings and races (Bearing cups), and a new caliper.
Also thinking, I might as well go ahead and replace the u-joints in the axles as well as the outer tie rods and the ball joints (they're shot!).
Anything else?
There were some pieces in the hub (Manual) as well but didn't look like they actually came from the hub itself. I'll see if I can get a picture of it.

What is this?
I pulled the other side apart to see what all it would need and never seen anything that resembled this piece.

IMO part of the bearing, holds the balls/cylinders from leaving.

I see what looks like a gouge about 1/4" or 3/8" or so in from the end (maybe 1/8" deep)... I think it'll be OK myself (the locking hub engages almost the entire length of the exposed splines). Whatever less amount (parts) you have to put into an axle you eventually might be getting rid of, the better.

Appreciate the props too Bobby. No doubt my intention was keeping everything simple, reliable, and bolt-on as possible when I built my rig. Except for some issues early on with Moog's garbage ball joints (have since switched to Spicer a.k.a. Raybestos), it has lived up well beyond my expectations.

What is this?
Yup, Bearing cage (from your disintegrated bearing).

Thanks guys. Looks like its going to be awhile before I get back to this one. Got an 03 F250 that has been down for a year and the lil lady is getting fed up with having 3 trucks sitting around doing nothing. So, the 250 gets fixed first then we will go from there. Hopefully parts prices don't skyrocket before I get back to her.
