So i just replaced the power steering rack in my 2001 and i am having trouble getting the 2 hoses tight.

I can tighten the bolt onto the bracket as tight as it will go and its flush all the way around, but the hoses are still loose and you can wiggle them quite a bit.

Its like they don't meet the bracket but they are the proper hoses. I have tried multiple new and old ones and they all do the same thing.

Any ideas?

Just curious if ever got this question answered? I have the same issue... just replaced rack... new hoses.. and despite the fact the plate/bolt are tightened down... both steel fittings seem to wobble around in the rack. not sure if that's be design. old rack did not.. but everything was very rusty so it's hard to say how it used to work. thanks for any info.

Did you install new nylon washer/o rings on the ends of the fittings?

The ends on Ford P/S hoses are a sealed on both the tube and the nut
because they are designed to flex.

The tubes are designed to move inside the fittings to prevent breakage. They have an o-ring inside the fitting that seals them.
