ok i just got this truck it is a 94, auto, 4x4 it only has 120,000 on it, not to bad conserdering i traded a 2.3 with about 200,000 on it. well on friday night i got it stuck out at my folks house and was giving it some H#@% and look down and my oil pressure had dropped to nothing. Know when ever i drive down the road and get into it, the oil gauge drops, never makes an noise's or loose any power, or smoke's!! the gauge just drops. any ideas??
Thanks Brian

Oil level ok? I had a 90' 4cyl that was losing oil pressure, only had about 60,000 on it. Hooked a gauge up to verify it was in fact losing pressure and not a bad sender. Long story short it had sludge built up in the oil pick up screen. I bought the truck with 50,000 so apparently the previous owner didn't do much maintenance. I tore the intake off of a mid 90's 4.0 and the valley area had what looked like black tape balls laying in there. Needless to say the oil gauge on it fluctuated too. Hope yours is just a bad sender, but usually when they go, they go and don't read at all. Sounds like you might be starving for oil

It has a N/O switch for a sending unit, so it will either read half-scale, or ZERO. I would say the sending unit "switch" is bad.

can you just hook up a oil gauge to it?? dont know anything thing about the 4.0 motors been around motors just not the v-6, usally big V-8's. thanks again guys this is a great forum.

ya oil level is fine just changed it. one other thing what should the gap be on the spark plugs??

Gap should be .052-.056 inch
