a used bike to replace my explorer since i will be selling off both that and my bronco 2 and getting rid of 4 wheel vehicles for a while until i can afford to fix them and put gas in them, now im wondering what would be a good bike for a bigger guy that has rode dirt bikes his whole life? looking for a street bike.

It's going to suck some donkey balls out there in washington when it starts pouring/snowing/etc and you're on a bike.

2.3l 2wd single/short... should get 20+mpg easy.

I really enjoy my old Goldwing (82).

It's a naked version that I have added a set of leather saddlebags and a home-made windscreen to.

You have to enjoy the wrenching part to own one though. Most dealers won't touch them other than tire changes.

I rode it exclusively from last May to November. I literally took my truck in to work twice in that span of months. Build thread of sorts: http://www.ngwclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=39920

More important than the bike itself is having quality raingear. I enjoy riding in the rain, but I am very careful.

I'd also recommend taking the rider course offered by many community colleges.

fritztkatt im actually gonna be moving so it is not to much of a deal

.
509...
can you not put the trucks in storage or something ? dad's place or a friend with a farm or something ?

It would be too bad to loose both.

Heck, when I was young, I moved 1000 miles from home, kept both car and jeep, at uncles farm for 2 years (moth balls on ground around both to keep mice out).

at least you don't loose the trucks you love, they are getting harder, and harder to find or replace..

Just my 2 cent worth......

Greg

Oh yeah, you want to move to Arizona. Nice place to ride I bet. I'm not a bike guy so I'll just keep my mouth shut, although maybe you might want to worry about a bike when you get there.

Gee 509 from you last posts I thought things were improving for you. Sorry to hear that you are having such problems. If you are just looking for an all around ride to work and on errands bike try finding a nice mid 80's Honda CB-450. Very reliable and capable all around bike. Small enough to comfortably handle around town yet enough bike for some highway traveling. Drive it all week on 2 gallons of gas. I remember seeing them frequently in the Bike Trader for anywhere from 700 to 1000 dollars.

I like the idea of storing at least one of your trucks... But then again if you are moving to AZ you might find a really cherry almost rust free Ranger there.

Trade one of them for a good running focus or something with a heater and four wheels. Keep the B-II on mothballs until you get the time and money to get er going again. Where you moving to?

gonna keep the b2 at my moms place i guess but the exploder has got to go since it will be taking alot of gas money to get down there so i would rather get a bike to ride down on to save gas, i have been looking at a 2012 yammy fz1 for 9k or a 99 cbr 900 for 2k but not to sure and kimcrwbr1 i am moving to arizona then after that movin to louisiana

What you doing with the sploder? Tell me some things about it if its nice i might consider come picking it up.

um its a pile of junk the motor runs good the interior is shot besides some trim panels, body panels and bumpers ar bent to peices, has newer tires on the front with decent ones on back, front axle needs things replaced but i have ball joints for it and ujoints need replaced i believe but not sure, other than that it's great lol, but probably not for you lol

The FZ1 is a lot of bike for a commuter. Why not something like one of the new Honda 500s?

Upnsmoke it's not only a commuter it's also for winning money at the track to make some extra on the side to be able to live since i have no money again can't get a job and because I'm taking out a 15000 dollar loan

yea i mean drag strip and maybe some street racing but mostly drag strip
